The Slovak Visual \u2013 Mostra do Cinema Eslovaco kicks off on October 6 and runs till November 2, 2016. A touring showcase of Slovak films gives Brazilians a unique opportunity to discover significant archive films, as well as\u00a0essential \u00a0pieces from contemporary Slovak cinema.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Slovak Visual \u2013 Mostra do Cinema Eslovaco starts in Rio de Janeiro (October 7 \u2013 13) and continues to Cabo Frio (October 15 \u2013 16), the capital city Brasilia (October 12 \u2013 14), Florianopolis (October 21 \u2013 23), Porto Alegre (October 28 \u2013 30) and Sao Paulo (November 1 \u2013 2).<\/p>\n

The programme consists of 5 archive features, 5 contemporary films, 10 short films and a slot of Slovak music-videoclips. The aim of the showcase is to present the\u00a0individualistic approach\u00a0of Slovak cinema and its\u00a0core specifics, which are almost unknown in the region.
\nThe curators’ pick intends to introduce the most important era of Slovak cinematography \u2013 the Czechoslovak New Wave; and continues with remarkable titles from the present as a demonstration of cinemtagraphic continuity build upon authenticity, intimacy and offsetting boundaries between the fiction and documentary genre.

\n<\/strong>All films are screened in original version with Portuguese subtitles. For this purpose, an exceptional collection of Portuguese subtitles has been prepared and will be available for\u00a0future events\u00a0hosted in\u00a0lusophone countries.<\/p>\n

Slovak director and producer Peter Kerekes attends the opening in Rio De Janiero and also the\u00a0following screening in Cabo Frio, where he introduces his acclaimed film 66 seasons. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Slovak Visual \u2013 Mostra do cinema Eslovaco is organized by Slovak distribution company Filmtopia, <\/a>in co-operation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brazil and the Slovak Film Institute.
