International Documentary Film Festival<\/a><\/span> Jihlava<\/span> 2012 (October <\/span>23 – 28, 2012)<\/span><\/a> starts<\/span> this year<\/span> its<\/span> 16th<\/span> year<\/span> and<\/span> as <\/span>usual,<\/span> it<\/span> will not be<\/span> without <\/span>Slovak<\/span> representation<\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The<\/span> competition section<\/span>\u00a0Between the Seas\u00a0<\/span>will present four <\/span>documents<\/span> by Slovak filmmakers, three of them coming from Slovak Republic. <\/span><\/span>The Gypsy Vote <\/em><\/span><\/strong>(2012<\/span>)<\/span> by<\/span> Jaro<\/span> Vojtek is<\/span>\u00a0a tragicomic<\/span> documentary, showing the<\/span> Slovak<\/span> parliamentary elections<\/span> in<\/span> connection<\/span> with the life<\/span> of the Gypsies.<\/span> Furthermore, in\u00a0Fragile Identity <\/em><\/strong>(2012) <\/span>Zuzana Piussi,\u00a0<\/span>aims to\u00a0figure out<\/span> where we draw<\/span> awareness of national<\/span> pride.<\/span> Director<\/span> Adam<\/span> O\u013eha<\/span> presents\u00a0his<\/span>\u00a0latest film<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>New Life <\/em><\/span><\/strong>(2012)<\/span>,<\/a> which maps the<\/span> relationship<\/span> of his parents and his big family<\/span>. All the films will be presented in a world premiere. The fourth<\/span> and<\/span> final<\/span> film<\/span> in<\/span> this section<\/span> is a Polish<\/span> film\u00a0by a<\/span>\u00a0Slovak director<\/span> Matej Bobrik<\/span> called<\/span> Self(less) portrait <\/em><\/strong>(2011).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Czech Landscape<\/span>\u00a0section<\/span> presents<\/span> film<\/span> The Greatest Wish<\/strong><\/em><\/span> 3 <\/strong>(2012)<\/span>, realized in co-production of the Czech Republic and Slovakia,\u00a0by\u00a0a\u00a0young<\/span> director<\/span> and<\/span> cinematographer<\/span> Olga<\/span> \u0160p\u00e1tov\u00e1<\/span>, who continues in<\/span> the footsteps<\/span> of her father<\/span>, a famous documentary filmmaker<\/span> Jan <\/span>\u0160p\u00e1ta.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Film 25 km2<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0from<\/span>\u00a0director Jana<\/span> Min\u00e1rikov\u00e1, <\/span>dealing with the<\/span> peculiar<\/span> life of a Slovak<\/span> jeweler<\/span> will<\/span> represent<\/span> Slovakia<\/span> in the section<\/span> Short Joy<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The<\/span> Industry<\/span> program<\/a> section <\/span>will present<\/span> Emerging<\/span> Producers<\/span>, which aims to<\/span> highlight the<\/span> young talent<\/span> in the field of<\/span> film production.<\/span> Slovak<\/span> representative<\/span> is<\/span> Tom\u00e1\u0161 <\/span>Kaminsk\u00fd<\/span> (<\/span>Mandala Pictures)<\/span>, producer of the film<\/span> The Gypsy Vote.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two films from Slovakia are also competing for the Silver Eye Award<\/a> within\u00a0East<\/span> Silver<\/span> market:\u00a0<\/span>Bells of Happiness<\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0directed by \u00a0Marek \u0160ul\u00edk<\/span> and<\/span> Jana<\/span> Bu\u010dka<\/span> and<\/span>\u00a0The Gypsy Vote<\/em><\/strong> by <\/span>Jaro<\/span> Vojtek<\/span>.<\/p>\n
