{"id":37664,"date":"2012-10-31T10:27:00","date_gmt":"2012-10-31T09:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=37664"},"modified":"2025-07-23T10:54:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T08:54:47","slug":"significant-presence-of-slovak-films-at-listapad-iff","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/significant-presence-of-slovak-films-at-listapad-iff\/","title":{"rendered":"Significant presence of Slovak films at Listapad IFF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/AIC_foto\/festivaly_loga\/listapad-2012.gif\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" class=\"table\" \/><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.listapad.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The 19th edition of the Listapad IFF<\/a>, taking place in Minsk, Belarus, will be giving a significant space for Slovak films in its programme this year: during November 2 \u2013 9, 2012, it will welcome Slovak films in competition, non-competitive and retrospective sections.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Main Feature Film Competition Slovakia will be represented by Peter Bebjak&#8217;s debute film <em><strong>Apricot Island<\/strong><\/em> (2011). In the Documentary Film Competition two Slovak films will compete: <em><strong>Matchmaking Mayor\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(2010) by Erika Hn\u00edkov\u00e1 and <em><strong>The Gypsy Vote<\/strong><\/em> (2012) by Jaro Vojtek, the latter brining home a Special Mention award from the Ji.hlava IFDF&#8217;s film market East Silver.<\/p>\n<p>In the section of Out of Competition Documentary Films the films <strong><em>25 from the Sixties, or The Czechoslovak New Wave <\/em><\/strong>(2010) by Martin \u0160ul\u00edk and <strong><em>Cigarettes and Songs<\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(2010) by his brother Marek \u0160ul\u00edk and Jana Koval\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1 &#8211; Bu\u010dka, will be presented. The fairy-tale <em><strong>Lady Winter<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(1985) by Juraj Jakubisko is dedicated to children viewers. The festival decided to focus their Retrospective section to the Slovak film director \u0160tefan Uher, and besides his very famous New Wave classics picture <strong><em>The Sun in the Net <\/em><\/strong>(1962), which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the festival audience can look forward to seeing some of his other films, too: <strong><em>The Organ<\/em><\/strong> (1964), <strong><em>The Wonder-Maid<\/em><\/strong> (1966), <em><strong>Three Daughters<\/strong> <\/em>(1967) and <strong><em>She Kept Crying for the Moon<\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(1982).<\/p>\n<p>The competition title <em><strong>Apricot Island<\/strong><\/em> will be personally introduced by the director Peter Bebjak and the producer Rastislav \u0160est\u00e1k, <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">She Kept Crying for the Moon<\/span><\/strong> will be presented by the actress Milka Zimkov\u00e1. Aki Kaurism\u00e4ki, brothers Dardens and Leos Carax will be among the guests of the festival, as well.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation of Slovak films in Minsk is organized by the commission of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and is based upon the bilateral agreement on cultural co-operation.
