The &#8220;winning strike&#8221; is closing with yet another\u00a0win for Made in Ash, which\u00a0by receiving\u00a0a Special Mention at the Neisse FF\u00a0successfully leapt into a new month.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Five major and co-production Slovak titles was included in the program of the\u00a020th Titanic IFF in Budapest, Hungary beginning of April.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/moj-pes-killer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>My Dog Killer<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Mira Fornay, at that time already a two-time winner (Hivos Tiger Award from Rotterdam\u00a0and Best Director Award from\u00a0Vilnius IFF Kino Pavasaris), received a Special Mention in the Competition section. The international\u00a0jury, consisting of the Irish producer Morgan Bushe,\u00a0Hungarian director\u00a0Szabolcs Hajdu and the Jury president Ji\u0159\u00ed Menzel,\u00a0awarded the film because of\u00a0its &#8220;<em>consistently\u00a0elaborated film language, suggestive atmosphere, precise and sensitive acting, direction, that is not afraid to take chances\u00a0and a courageous, in-detail worked out screenplay.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Czech director\u00a0Petr Nikolaev received the Audience Award for his film <strong><em>Lidice<\/em><\/strong>, screened within the Staropramen Beer Snacks section.<\/p>\n<p>Successes of <strong><em>My Dog\u00a0Killer<\/em><\/strong> continued at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.festivalfinale.cz\/cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">26th Festival of Czech Films Fin\u00e1le Plze\u0148<\/a>, as well: together with other co-production and major Slovak films <strong><em>Made in Ash<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>DONT STOP<\/em><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/estebak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Confidant<\/em><\/strong><\/a> and <strong><em>In the Shadow<\/em><\/strong> it competed in the New Czech Feature Films in Competition section and won twice &#8211; receiving the Golden Kingfisher for the Best Feature Film and the Audience Award for the Best Acting for its leading actor Adam Mih\u00e1l. The Jury &#8211;\u00a0Rick McCullum (US), Zuzana Mistr\u00edkov\u00e1 (SK), Zornitsa Sophia (BG), Christian Schwochow (DE) and Radim \u0160pa\u010dek (CZ) justificated their verdict as follows:\u00a0&#8220;<em>We have a unanimous decision: all of us agree passionately that the film <strong>My Dog Killer<\/strong> represents the best of what pure cinema can be. It is a bold, daring and stunningly powerful film that explores a world that illuminates intolerance in a very humane and deeply moving way. It does this primarily visually and with sound, the very foundations of film, with performances that are so real and so tense that you feel the character might explode in front of your eyes. The two words that best describe our feelings about this remarkable film are: F*CKING AWESOME!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Other Slovak titles were featured in different sections of the festival, as well: <strong><em>The Greatest Wish<\/em><\/strong> (New Czech Documentary Films in Competition), <strong><em>An Ambigious Report of the End of the World<\/em><\/strong> (Wings of Fame: Juraj Jakubisko, Ji\u0159\u00ed Menzel, Ji\u0159\u00ed Krej\u010d\u00edk) and <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/od-fica-do-fica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>The<\/em> <em>Grasp of the State<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (Special Mention).<\/p>\n<p>An award-winning weekend was waiting for <strong><em>Made in Ash<\/em><\/strong>, too, which directly after Pilsen travelled to the Linz competition of European features at the 10th\u00a0Crossing Europe FF in Austria.\u00a0The Jury, consisting of Dominique Choisy (France), Sarlote Liduma (Latvia) and Pia Marais (Germany \/ South Africa), awarded director Iveta Gr\u00f3fov\u00e1 with a Special Mention. The film was personally presented by the director together with the cinematographer Viera Ba\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1 and she also personally received the award.<\/p>\n<p>With a winning score <strong><em>Made in Ash<\/em><\/strong> entered another month at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.neissefilmfestival.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neisse FF<\/a> at the German-Polish boarders.
