\"\"On June 5, 2013, the first edition of the Czech & Slovak Film Festival<\/a>\u00a0will be launched, placing its venues to Melbourne, the second largest Australian city. The festival will be held until June 9, 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the framework of the opening, the Slovak classic The Sun in a Net <\/em><\/strong>(dir. \u0160tefan Uher, 1962) will be introduced in the prestigious cinema of the Melbourne Cinemath\u00e9que \u2013 ACMI, in a digitally restorated versio; the screening will be dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Slovak Film Institute. An article on the film was published at the Senses of Cinema film portal, its author is Peter Hourigan. The Festival will be officially opened by the co-production title In the Shadow <\/em><\/strong>(dir. David Ond\u0159\u00ed\u010dek, 2012).<\/p>\n

The program of the festival will also include several other successful Slovak titles \u2013 The House<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(dir. Zuzana Liov\u00e1, 2011), Alois Nebel<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Lu\u0148\u00e1k, 2011), Identity Card<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ond\u0159ej Trojan, 2010), Stones<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(dir. Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1, 2010), The Last Bus <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Martin Snopek & Ivana Lau\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1) and a collection of Slovak animation shorts.<\/p>\n

The first Czech & Slovak Film Festival was initiated and is organized by the Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia Inc.<\/a> (CaSFFA), its curator and director is Cerise Howard, film critic and a collaborator of several film festivals.<\/p>\n

Co-organizers and partners are: Slovak Film Institute, Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic<\/a>, Embassy of Slovak Republic in Canberra<\/a>, Czech Film Centre \u2013 National Film Archive (NFA)<\/a>, Consulate of the Czech Republic in Sydney<\/a>, Czech Centres<\/a> and Cinemath\u00e9que Melbourne<\/a>.<\/p>\n
