Slovak films marked couple of successful results in the last days: not only they received awards at the prestigious 48th Karlovy Vary IFF, but they also scored at festivals in Munich, Germany, Lagow, Poland, Fest An\u010da in \u017dilina and FEST in Portugal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 31st Munich FF (June 28 \u2013 July 6, 2013)<\/a>\u00a0screened the critically acclaimed film M\u00f4j pes Killer<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2013) by Mira Fornay in the CineVision section. The Jury, consisted by Aggeliki Papoulia, Jean-Marc Barr and Luis Mi\u00f1arro granted the film with the CineVision Award, which the festival, in co-operation iwth SENATOR FILM, gives to best first and\u00a0second feature films. The Slovak-Czech title also received 12 000 \u20ac, which it shares with the\u00a0Mexican film Halley<\/em><\/strong> by Sebasti\u00e1n Hofman. The verdict of the Jury was: \u201eThe Cinevision Jury decided to give the award ex aequo to Halley by Sebasti\u00e1n Hofmann and My Dog Killer by Mira Fornay. The jury decided to celebrate two films. Because both films were created with simplicity. They were able to tell a story, make cinema and were audacious in presenting a contemporary sociopolitical reality while exploring the existential human condition. Both films revealed talented new directors using strong leading actors that drove the story.<\/em>\u201c <\/em><\/p>\n

The Cannes and Annecy winner, animator Mat\u00fa\u0161 Viz\u00e1r, was successful with his short animation film V\u00ed\u0165az The Pandas<\/em><\/strong> (2013) at the domestic festival of animation films in \u017dilina Fest An\u010da (June 27 \u2013 30, 2013)<\/a>. The An\u010da Award was given to him by the Jury consisted of Ulrich Wegenast (DE), Michaela Pavl\u00e1tov\u00e1 (CZ) and Emma de Swaef (BE).\u00a0According to them, it is \u201ea\u00a0provocative, bold, entertaining and apocalyptic film with enormous energy<\/em>.\u201c Besides the prize money of 1000 EUR, Viz\u00e1r received a statuette made by Bra\u0148o Laho.<\/p>\n

The Bells of Happiness <\/em><\/strong>(2012)\u00a0by Marek \u0160ul\u00edk and\u00a0Jana Bu\u010dka was presented at the oldest Polish film festival, the 42nd Lubuskie Film Summer (June 30 <\/a>\u2013July 7, <\/a>2013)<\/a> within the Documentary Film Competition. It received the Silver Grape Award at the festival.<\/p>\n

The Bulgarian-English-Slovak short film Pig\u00a0Star<\/em><\/strong> (2012)\u00a0by Michael Angelov received the Best Documentary Short Film Award\u00a0at the FEST (June 24 \u2013 July 1, 2013)<\/a>\u00a0film festival in Portugal.<\/p>\n
