\"\"The MIDPOINT<\/a>\u00a0workshop, aimed at supporting talents and script developing, announced its winner: among the awarded projects was the Slovak upcoming film Magda H.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Magda H.<\/em><\/strong> is a project\u00a0by screenwriter Ter\u00e9zia Simanov\u00e1, a V\u0160MU<\/a> Bratislava graduate, producer Peter Bada\u010d from Prague\u2019s FAMU<\/a> and another V\u0160MU graduate, Barbora Berez\u0148\u00e1kov\u00e1.\u00a0It \u00a0tells the story of the complicated life of Magda Lokvencov\u00e1-Hus\u00e1kov\u00e1, a lawyer, actress and the first wife of Czechoslovakian Normalization president Gust\u00e1v Hus\u00e1k. \u201cBased on the consultations with the lecturers we divided the story into separate storylines that we made into a new structure. We will see about the further fates of the screenplay \u2013 so far, Czech Television has shown interest,<\/em>\u201d says Barbora Berez\u0148\u00e1kov\u00e1 about her participation in MIDPOINT. The Main Prize of 1 500 \u20ac should help the winners in further development of the project.<\/p>\n

The jury announced also two awards accompanied by twice the amount of 750 \u20ac for the best short film project \u2013 it went to FAMU\u2019s screenwriter and director Jan T\u011b\u0161itel and producer Kl\u00e1ra \u017daloudkov\u00e1 and their project David<\/em><\/strong> and to the screenplay entitled Leave<\/em><\/strong> by Hungarian filmmaker D\u00e1vid Nagy, producer K\u00e1roly Bilincsi and director \u00c9va Papp.<\/p>\n

This year, eleven film schools collaborated on the project, and a number of film professionals from abroad, such as German producer Simone Baumann, Slovenian producer Danijel Ho\u010devar, Hungarian filmmaker Csaba Boll\u00f3k and Macedonian director Ivo Trajkov. For the first time, a day dedicated to writing and shooting scenes, led by Italian director and screenwriter Giovanni Robbiano, was part of the workshop.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of October, the programme called Training the Trainers will take place at FAMU in Prague, as well; it is aimed at young film-school teachers who want to gain deeper knowledge of dramaturgy. In the second half of October, international workshops for Czech and Slovak film professionals will take place in Prague and Bratislava that will help them to collaborate on their projects with screenwriters and dramaturgists from abroad.<\/p>\n

Previously, Slovak projects Rubicon<\/em><\/strong> (in 2012) and Momo<\/em><\/strong> (in 2011), were awarded at the MIDPOINT workshop.<\/p>\n
