Slovakia is represented not only in the festival programme, but also industry programme for film professionals and in several accompanying events.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Official Programme<\/p>\n<p>In the competition section Between the Seas, for countries and nations of Central and Eastern Europe,\u00a0Robert Kirchhoff&#8217;s <strong><em>Normalization<\/em><\/strong> (2013) will take part. The film is the result of director&#8217;s 8-year investigation of an unresolved murder case in the Czechoslovak judiciary that began in 1976.<\/p>\n<p>The Czech-Slovak co-production film <strong><em>Eugenic Minds<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Pavel \u0160tingl, which is competiting\u00a0in the Czech Joy\u00a0section, discusses the history of an idea with monstrous consequences, presented in the style of old newsreels.<\/p>\n<p>The non-competitive Short Joy section is also giving space to Slovak production: <strong><em>Homo Ciris<\/em><\/strong> (2013) by Jana Min\u00e1rikov\u00e1 is straddling the line between documentary and fiction and\u00a0takes a loving look at the story of an old man who devoted his life to aquarium fish and dreams of entering the underwater world.<\/p>\n<p>Between the Seas<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Normalization<\/em> (Kauza Cervanov\u00e1)<\/strong><br \/>\nSK \/ CZ &#8211; 100 min. &#8211; 2013 &#8211; documentary<br \/>\ndirector: Robert Kirchhoff<\/p>\n<p>October 27 I 16:00 I DKO I<\/p>\n<p>Czech Joy<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Eugenic Minds<\/em> (Eug\u00e9niov\u00e9)<\/strong><br \/>\nCZ \/ SK &#8211; \u00a076 min. &#8211; 2013 &#8211; documentary<br \/>\ndirector: Pavel \u0160tingl<\/p>\n<p>October 25 I 20:00 I DKO I<\/p>\n<p>Short Joy<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Homo ciris<\/em> (Homo Ciris)<\/strong><br \/>\nSK &#8211; 23 min. &#8211; 2013 &#8211; documentary<span style=\"background-color: #c0c0c0\"><br \/>\n<\/span>director: Jana Min\u00e1rikov\u00e1<\/p>\n<p>October 27 I 10:00 I DIOD<\/p>\n<p>Industry<\/p>\n<p>The Industry festival programme will run the 10th edition of the East Silver Market, which supports producers and distributors from Central and Eastern Europe. Nominated film are competing\u00a0for The Silver Eye Award. Slovakia is represented in the short documentary category by Min\u00e1rikov\u00e1&#8217;s <strong><em>Homo Ciris<\/em><\/strong> (2013) and the full-length category by Kirchhoff&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/kauza-cervanova\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Normalization<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2013) and <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/vsetky-moje-deti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>All My Children<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2014) by Ladislav Kabo\u0161.<\/p>\n<p>The 2nd edition of Emerging Producers is to interconnect talented European producers with film professionals, especially those working in documentary cinematography. Barbora Hessov\u00e1 (AH production) is a Slovak representative. She is a producer of the\u00a0successful student film by Miro Remo <strong><em>Arsy-Versy<\/em><\/strong> (2010),\u00a0now\u00a0production <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/comeback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Comeback<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a feature documentary about released prisoners of the same director. She is also\u00a0participating on is <strong><em>Parlika<\/em><\/strong>, a documentary about a woman fighting for the women\u2018s rights in Afghanistan, directed by Sahraa Karimi and many others.<\/p>\n<p>The international worskhop Ex Oriente Film is dedicated to development and funding of creative documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe. Katar\u00edna Hlin\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1 and Barbara Jani\u0161ov\u00e1 Feglov\u00e1 will presents their <strong><em>Homo Video<\/em><\/strong> (2013) and Michal Kabo\u0161 and Bibiana Be\u0148ov\u00e1 their project <strong><em>Ghosts<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Visegrad Accelerator project is aimed at interconnecting professionals from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland attending Jihlava IDFF 2013. This event opens the possibility to establish a creative Visegrad platform initiating and expanding various film activities through meetings of film professionals, critics and festival representatives from Central European countries. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avf.sk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a> is represented by Martin \u0160matl\u00e1k.<\/p>\n<p>Workshops and Masterclasses<\/p>\n<p>In co-operation with the Slovak Film Institute (SFI), the Workshop section will present the Slovak Short Film presentation, introduced by the film theorist M\u00e1ria Feren\u010duhov\u00e1. Her colleague, the film theorist Petra Han\u00e1kov\u00e1, will be a guest of the session. There will be ten short film presented altogether. Scenes from the feature documentary on the fights of the Slovak army against the Sovient Union in 1941 <strong><em>From Tatras to the Sea of Azov<\/em><\/strong> (1942) will also be screened.<\/p>\n<p>A masterclass entitled Kerekes and Ostrochovsky: Velvet Terrorists, which will be led by two Slovak directors and producers, is focused on production especially in the documentary environment. Kerekes and Ostrochovsk\u00fd are signed under the new documentary <strong><em>Velvet Terrorists <\/em><\/strong>(2013), a Slovak-Czech-Croatian co-production.<\/p>\n<p>Workshops<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slovak Short Film (Slovensk\u00fd kr\u00e1tky film)<\/strong><br \/>\nwith M\u00e1ria Feren\u010d\u00fahov\u00e1 and Petra Han\u00e1kov\u00e1<\/p>\n<p>October 26 I 14:00 I DIOD<\/p>\n<p>Masterclass<\/p>\n<p>Kerekes a Ostrochovsk\u00fd: Velvet Terrorists<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>with Peter Kerekes Kerekesom and Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd<\/p>\n<p>October 27 I 10:00 I Dukla Reform<\/p>\n<p>Other Accompanying Events<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/kinecko.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kine\u010dko<\/a> magazine will let the festival visitors try out the celuloid material and edit their piece of film in their project Pristrihni si.<\/p>\n<p>For the second time, the festival will also be a framework for one of the workshops of the scriptwriting and scriptediting platform <a href=\"http:\/\/midpoint-center.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIDPOINT<\/a> \u2013 miniMIDPOINT.
