The 23rd Prague International Film Festival \u2013 FEBIOFEST<\/a>,\u00a0 held on March 17 \u2013 25, 2016,\u00a0features\u00a0several Slovak films.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The New Europe Competition will present Eva Nov\u00e1<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Marko \u0160kop) in its Czech premiere. The title enters the Czech cinemas on March 24, 2016 (by A\u010cFK<\/a>).
\nThe Competition also includes I, Olga Hepnarova<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Weinreb, Petr Kazda). Film opened the Panorama Section of this year\u00b4s Berlinale.<\/p>\n

The film selection of Slovak Day\u00a0includes three Slovak titles: a poetic ballad Dragon’s Return<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Eduard Gre\u010dner) that is screened to honour the first Lady of Slovak cinema Em\u00edlia V\u00e1\u0161aryov\u00e1, a tragicomic roadmovie Stanko<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>(dir. Ras\u0165o Boro\u0161) and an urban thriller The Cleaner<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Peter Bebjak) that will be Czech-premiered at the festival and enters the Czech distribution on May 5 (by Bontonfilm<\/a>).<\/p>\n

A new-born section Czech Track will\u00a0screen, in its premiere, a debut-animation Murderous Tales<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Jan Buben\u00ed\u010dek) that will be released in Czech cineams on March 23 (by Falcon<\/a>). This darkly playful cross-genre film on heroism and death\u00a0tells a story of three\u00a0tales that include\u00a0a suspicious Mexican cactus inherited from grandpa, a miniature professor who opposes animal slaughter for scientific purposes, a duo of incompetent killers in a jalopy, and an incredibly stupid knight fighting a dragon.
\nWithin the section another\u00a0coproduction title, a detective thriller, The Red Spider<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Marcin Koszalka) will be screened.<\/p>\n

In addition, on March 1, Fero Feni\u010d, the film and television director, producer, and the founder and president of the Prague International Film Festival \u2013 Febiofest, received the highest recognition awarded by the capital of the Czech Republic \u2013 honorary citizenship of Prague. Prague has been awarding this status since 1920 and Fero Feni\u010d became the first filmmaker ever to receive it. Feni\u010d is also the only citizen of Slovakia to receive it in the last forty years. In the past, honorary citizenship of Prague has been awarded to Sir Nicholas Winton, conductor Rafael Kubel\u00edk, writer Josef \u0160kvoreck\u00fd and V\u00e1clav Havel.<\/p>\n

The representation of Slovak cinema is organized in co-operation with Slovak Institute in Prague.<\/p>\n
