The section entitled From Suns to Explosions. A brief walk through Slovak cinema will present eight films ranging from the 60s to most recent production within the 5th edition of the Avvantura Film Festival Zadar (23. \u2013 29. 8. 2014) in Croatia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The showcase will open with the debut from the fresh and still fragile post-communicstic 90s, by a director, who held the continuity of the Slovak cinema for over two decades \u2013 Martin \u0160ul\u00edk&#8217;s <em><strong>T<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>enderness <\/strong><\/em>(1991). The director will personally present the film. Other archive titles, significant films of the New Wave of the 60s, include \u0160tefan Uher&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/blu-ray\/blu-ray-slnko-v-sieti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>The Sun in a Net<\/em><\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(1962), the establishing film of the movement and <em><strong>Three Daughters<\/strong><\/em> (1967), and the disturbingly absurd <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/vtackovia-siroty-a-blazni\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Birds, Orphans and Fools<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(1969) by Juraj Jakubisko.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, recent Slovak cinema will be also introduced: the section will screen the Cannes premiered creative documentary working with animation segments <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/slepe-lasky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Blind Loves<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (2008) by Juraj Lehotsk\u00fd, the first Slovak horror film <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/zlo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Evil<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2012) by Peter Bebjak and the Berlinale &#8220;alumni&#8221; <em><strong>The House<\/strong><\/em> (2011) by Zuzana Liov\u00e1 and <em><strong>Velvet Terrorists<\/strong><\/em> (2013) by Pavol Pekar\u010d\u00edk, Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd and Peter Kerekes, the latter presented by one of the three directors Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd and its Croatian co-producer Sini\u0161a Juri\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n<p>Each screening will be preceeded by a short exhibition of archive photos stills on screen, accompanied by selected compositions from various of these films.
