Among the awarded were two Slovak projects: <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Why We Believe<\/span> and <span style=\"font-style: italic\">The Contest<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the two awarded projects in the short film category was the project of writer and director Martin Hn\u00e1t and producer Zuzana Barto\u0161ov\u00e1, both students of V\u0160MU in Bratislava, entitled <em><strong>Why We Believe<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0The story, taking place after the WWI, is aimed at a love triangle, at the same time it talks about the problem of losing and re-discovering Christian faith in a world distroyed by the war.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.midpoint-center.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIDPOINT <\/a>in co-operation with <a href=\"https:\/\/mfi.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI)<\/a> also granted scholarships. The winners will participate at the prestigious European workshop organized by the MFI for 16 years already. In Summer of 2015, two teams will visit the Greek islands of Nissyros and Samos, one of them being Luk\u00e1\u0161 Obermajer (writer), Erika Paulinsk\u00e1 (producer) a Martina Buchelov\u00e1 (director) with their V\u0160MU project <strong><em>The Contest<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0The satirical script inspired by reality shows introduces a study of a group of contestants, who take part on a absurd contest in supermarket.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the feature film category was the project <em><strong>Vera Dreams of the Sea<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span>from Kosovo.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth edition od <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midpoint-center.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIDPOINT <\/a>welcomed (besides the core lecturers: writer and professor of scriptwriting Brendan Ward, dean of FAMU Pavel Jech, Hungarian director Csaba Boll\u00f3k, directors and lecturers Ivo Trajkov and Pavel Marek, and Slovenian producer Danijel Ho\u010devar) several guest lecturers: Giovianni Robbiano from MFI, Sibylle Kurz \u2013 a pitching expert, Ferenc Pusztai \u2013 Hungarian producer, and Guyla Gazdag \u2013 Artistic Director of\u00a0 Sundance Directors&#8217; Lab.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Slovak projects <em><strong>Magda H.<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">\u00a0<\/span>(full-length, 2013), <em><strong>Rubicon<\/strong><\/em> (full-length, 2012) and <em><strong>Momo<\/strong><\/em> (short film, 2011), were awarded at the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><a>MIDPOINT<\/a> was supported by: <a title=\"odkaz otvor\u00ed v novom okne\" href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/culture\/media\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MEDIA Programme<\/a>, <a title=\"odkaz otvor\u00ed v novom okne\" href=\"http:\/\/www.avf.sk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/visegradfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Visegrad Fund<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondkinematografie.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Cinematography Fund<\/a> and <a title=\"odkaz otvor\u00ed v novom okne\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mkcr.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More information at:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.midpoint-center.eu\/\">www.midpoint-center.eu<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.character-fda.eu\/\">www.character-fda.eu<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The MIDPOINTworkshop, aimed at supporting talents and script developing, announced it winners on August 29, 2015\u00a0at FAMU, in Prague.
