Jameson CineFest\u00a0– Miskolc international Film Festival<\/a>, known for its interest and focus on animation films, dedicated a special place to Slovak animation within Slovak Animation Days during its 11th edition. Joining forces with the Slovak Film Institute, the audiences have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with a selection of significant short animation films in a collection covering a period from 1960s until these days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From its archive collections, the Slovak Film Institute presents a unique full-length animation by Viktor Kubal, the leading name of Slovak animation tradition, The Bloody Lady<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1980), about love and cruelty inspired by the legend about Countess Bathory, the infamous bloody lady of the \u010cachtice castle. The film belongs to all-time classics of Slovak cinema.<\/p>\n

In addition, an overview of Slovak short animation from the period of 1960s up to 1980s features important shorts by Viktor Kubal and further renowned Slovak animators such as Jaroslava Havettov\u00e1, Popovi\u010d brothers, Franti\u0161ek Juri\u0161i\u010d, Ondrej Slivka, and others.<\/p>\n

The Virvar<\/em><\/strong><\/a> collection is aimed at presenting a selection of significant animation works from 1990s until today. The well-curated collection maps the works of the post-Velvet-revolution generation of Slovak animators, spanning from In the Box<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(1999), Oscar nominated short by Michal Struss to The Pandas<\/strong><\/em> by Mat\u00fa\u0161 Viz\u00e1r, awarded at Cin\u00e9fondation Cannes 2013. Presented films include the works by Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1, Ivana Lau\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1 Zajacov\u00e1, Ivana \u0160ebestov\u00e1, Michal Struss, Martin Snopek, Vlado Kr\u00e1l and others, who are well known and active in the recent international festival circuit.<\/p>\n

Jameson CineFest is also in partnership with Fest An\u010da, International Animation Film Festival in \u017dilina<\/a>, and will present the Best of An\u010da collection, featuring the awarded animation works from the recent June edition of the festival. Cinematik IFF<\/a>, also a partner event to the festival, will present the winner of last year’s Competition of Slovak Documentary Films, Robert Kirchhoff’s documentary “twin peaks” story, Normalization<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (2013).<\/p>\n
