Jaro Vojtek) and <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/v-tichu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">In Silence <\/span><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Zden\u011bk Jir\u00e1sk\u00fd), minority co-production <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Places <\/span><\/strong>by Radim \u0160pa\u010dek and the feature documentary <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">38 <\/span><\/strong>by Daniel Dangl and Luk\u00e1\u0161 Zednikovi\u010d about the Slovak hockey player Pavol Demitra were premiered. The documentary, reaching 111 004 admissions, not only became the most successful documentary in the era of independent Slovakia, but also entered the TOP 10 chart of admissions since 1993, currently ranking No. 6 of the chart.<\/p>\n<p>In October, the first Slovak fairy tale since 2003 entered the cinemas \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/laska-na-vlasku\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Love in Your Soul <\/span><\/strong><\/a>by Mariana \u010cengel Sol\u010dansk\u00e1, along with the feature documentary by Miro Remo \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/comeback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Comeback<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, which had its world premiere in the Documentary Competition of Karlovy Vary IFF.<\/p>\n<p>In November, two further feature documentaries are to be released in cinemas: <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">wave vs. shore <\/span><\/strong>by the successful cinematographer and debuting director Martin \u0160trba and <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Salto Mortale<\/span><\/strong>, a feature debut by Anabela \u017digov\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p>Slovak short films were also distributed in 2014: animation films <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Fongopolis <\/span><\/strong>by Joanna Ko\u017euch is a pre-film for <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Nick Cave: 20 000 Days on Earth<\/span><\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Nina <\/span><\/strong>by Veronika Obertov\u00e1 and Michaela \u010cop\u00edkov\u00e1 screened before <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">The White God<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/AIC_foto\/soucasny-slovensky-film-2014-plagat.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" class=\"table\" \/>In 2014, a record number of 16 Slovak majority and minority productions are entering cinema distribution in the Czech Republic. After <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/kandidat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">The Candidate<\/span><\/a>, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Fair Play<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">All My Children<\/span>,<span style=\"font-style: italic\"> Eugenic Minds<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Velvet Terrorists<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">GRADUATES\/ Freedom Is Not for Free<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Archbishop Bezak Adieu&#8230;<\/span>, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Tomorrow Forever<\/span><\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Gottland<\/span><\/strong>, seven other titles are reaching Czech cinemas in the Autumn and Winter season: on September 18, the omnibus of ten directors <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Slovakia 2.0<\/span><\/strong> and the minority co-production <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Places<\/span><\/strong> by Radim \u0160pa\u010dek had their distribution premiere, and on October 16, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/v-tichu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\"> In Silence<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/deti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Children <\/span><\/a><\/strong>and <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/felvidek-horna-zem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Felvidek. Caught in Between<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and a collection of Slovak short films were released.<\/p>\n<p>On October 23, the Slovak candidate for the Foreign Language Oscar, <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">A Step Into the Dark<\/span><\/strong> by Miroslav Luther was premiered and December 4 is the date set for the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/rukojemnik-jak-sme-hrali-caru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Hostage <\/span><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Juraj Nvota). The latter will enter Slovak cinemas after its Czech premiere, on January 8, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The greatest distributors of Slovak films in Czech Republic are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miriusfd.cz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mirius FD<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cinemart.cz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CinemArt<\/a>. The latter prepared a travelling showcase of the most successful Slovak documentary, fiction and animation films for the second time, entitled Contemporary Slovak Film 2014. Within the showcase, features <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/deti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\"> Children<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/felvidek-horna-zem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Felvidek. Caught in Between<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/eshop\/dvd\/v-tichu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">In Silence<\/span><\/a><\/strong> and the shorts<strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\"> Homo Ciris<\/span><\/strong> (dir. Jana Min\u00e1rikov\u00e1), <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">tWINs <\/span><\/strong>(dir. Peter Budinsk\u00fd), <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">The Star<\/span><\/strong> (dir. Andrej Kolen\u010d\u00edk), <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">The Last Bus<\/span><\/strong> (dir. Ivana Lau\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1 and Martin Snopek) and <strong><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Tiger Fight <\/span><\/strong>(dir.
