The 28th edition of the yearly retrospective and competition showcase of Czech and, since last year, Slovak films, as well, Fin\u00e1le Plze\u0148 (26. 4. <\/a>\u2013<\/a> 2. 5. 2015)<\/a>, Czech Republic, will host a significant number of Slovak titles produced in the last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The festival will also present some of Slovak archives: in the section dedicated to the “Czechoslovak Film Miracle” and the production of the 60s \u2013 Wings of Fame<\/strong><\/em>, which is mapped by the documentary films of the Slovak director Martin \u0160ul\u00edk, the establishing film of the Czechoslovak New Wave will be screened \u2013 The Sun in a Net<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1962) by \u0160tefan Uher. The Fame and Glory of Animation section will also bring archive films to the festival audience – the short animation by Jan \u0160vankmajer To the Cellar<\/em><\/strong> (1983) and The Bloody Lady<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1980), a feature animation by Viktor Kubal.<\/p>\n

Recent feature and documentary films will take part in the competition sections of\u00a0the festival. The New Czech and Slovak feature films in competition section will introduce Children<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Jaro Vojtek), Places<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Radim \u0160pa\u010dek), Hostage<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Juraj Nvota) and In Silence<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Zden\u011bk Jir\u00e1sk\u00fd). The Out of Competition section will include A Step into the Dark<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Miloslav Luther), Slovakia 2.0<\/em><\/strong> (dir. by various directors) and the Czech majority All My Tomorrows<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Rudolf Havl\u00edk).<\/p>\n

Slovak documentaries will compete for the Golden Kingfisher\u00a0Award in the New Czech and Slovak documentary films in competition section, are Comeback<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(dir. Miro Remo), Felvid\u00e9k. Caught in Between<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Vladislava Plan\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1), Gottland<\/em><\/strong> (dir. various directors), The Edge \u2013 4 Films about Marek Brezovsk\u00fd<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Patrik Lan\u010dari\u010d) and wave vs. shore<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martin \u0160trba).<\/p>\n

Further Slovak production will be introduced in the showcase section entitled Slovak Specials \u2013 38<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Dano Dangl, Tom\u00e1\u0161 Zednikovi\u010d), The Polarman<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Pavol Barab\u00e1\u0161), Transference<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Zuzana Piussi), Socialist Zombie Massacre<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Rastislav Bla\u017eek, Zuzana Paulini, Peter \u010cerm\u00e1k), All My Children<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Ladislav Kabo\u0161) and short films Fongopolis<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Joanna Kozuch), Homo Ciris<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jana Min\u00e1rikov\u00e1), Checkpoint<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Adam Felix) and Snow<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ivana \u0160ebestov\u00e1).<\/p>\n

The Special Screening section wil present the co-production Czech-Slovak animation feature The Little Man<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Radek Beran) in a premiere.<\/p>\n

The programme of the festival dedicated to television production will also introduce Slovak authors: the Competition for Czech and Slovak TV formats \u2013 Non-Cyclic Projects section will screen My Uprising<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jon\u00e1\u0161 Kar\u00e1sek) and the Competition for Czech and Slovak TV formats \u2013 Cyclic Projects section\u00a0wil introduce Animatherapy<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jakub Kroner), Horn\u00e1 Doln\u00e1<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Jan\u010do) and Secret Lives<\/em><\/strong> (dir. J\u00e1n Sebechlebsk\u00fd).<\/p>\n

Several filmmakers and actors will come to present their films to Pilsen.<\/p>\n

The Presentation of Upcoming Czech Films, will tradionally also be a part of the festival’s programme, taking place on April 28, 10:30 am, introducing several co-production Slovak projects, as well. The presentation is a part of the film professional programme Industry Days and is organized by the Czech Film Center<\/a> in co-opeartion with Fin\u00e1le Plze\u0148.<\/p>\n

Slovakia will also be represented in the juries of the festival \u2013 the International Jury for Feature and Animation Films will include the Slovak distributor Michal Drobn\u00fd (Continental Film) and the documentary’s jury member will be Slovak documentary filmmaker Robert Kirchhoff.<\/p>\n
