Two Slovak films <\/strong>\u2013 Eva Nov\u00e1<\/em> and Koza <\/em>\u2013 were selected for Toronto International Film\u00a0Festival<\/a>\u00a0(September 10 \u2013 20, 2015).\u00a0Furthermore, for the first time there is a\u00a0Slovak\u00a0representative at\u00a0Producers Lab Toronto 2015.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fiction-feature debut by Marko \u0160kop Eva Nov\u00e1<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0has its world premiere within in the TIFF Discovery\u00a0section.
\nThe film depicts the life of Eva, a recovered alcoholic but decades ago a famous actress \u2013 brilliantly portrayed by the Dame of Slovak theatre and cinema, actress Em\u00edlia V\u00e1\u0161\u00e1ryov\u00e1 \u2013 who would do anything to regain the love of the one person she hurt the most \u2013 her own son. Supposedly everyone deserves a second chance. The question is whether it is not too late…
\nMarko \u0160kop directed successful documentary films Osadn\u00e9<\/strong><\/em> (2009) and Other Worlds<\/strong><\/em> (2006).\u00a0He\u00a0said about Eva Nov\u00e1<\/em><\/strong><\/a>: “I tried to get immersed in the intimacy of a family. I believe that, despite all the mistakes, people still have the possibility to embrace, no matter how clumsy the hug may be. Because only love \u2013without unnecessary sentiment \u2013 has the power to really redeem us.”<\/em>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"The section\u00a0Contemporary World Cinema\u00a0hosts Koza<\/em><\/strong><\/a> directed by Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd. The film tells the story of a former Olympic boxer Peter Bal\u00e1\u017e, nick-named Koza, who after years of missing out on trainings returns to the ring.
\nOstrochovsk\u00fd\u00b4s name became internationally known\u00a0thanks to the documentary Velvet Terrorists<\/em> <\/strong>(2013), which he co-directed by Pavol Pekar\u010d\u00edk and Peter Kerekes, and premiered at Berlinale 2014, winning the Tagesspiegel Readers’ Award. Koza <\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u2013 his fiction-feature debut \u2013 has been successfully trotting the festival circuit ever since its world premiere at Berlinale Forum in February 2015 and now has its North American premiere in Toronto.<\/p>\n

Slovak\u00a0cinema has also\u00a0a representative at the networking\u00a0platform\u00a0Producers Lab Toronto,<\/em> organised by the European Film Promotion<\/a>. Silvia Pan\u00e1kov\u00e1 (producer at ARINA, Slovak Producer on the Move 2010) will presents her up-coming film The Ballad of Piargy<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Ivo Trajkov).<\/p>\n
