The Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia 2015 extends its programme into three cities – Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. The first festival part will be held from September 16 to 25, 2015 at the Australian centre for the Moving Image (ACMI)<\/a> in Melbourne (CASFFA)<\/a>.\u00a0The festival was established in 2013 to showcase Slovak and Czech\u00a0films in Australia, and its program aims to present the best works of both the archive\u00a0treasures and recent film production.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year\u00b4s Melbourne edition\u00a0celebrates “yesterday\u2019s tomorrows, today” with the theme of \u201cprojection\u201d. The programme hosts five Slovak feature films as well as\u00a0collection of Slovak short films produced in 2014.<\/p>\n

Two\u00a0Slovak film classics will be presented in their digitally restored versions from new DCP prints. The first one is Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k\u00b4s Pictures of the Old World<\/em><\/strong><\/a> \u2013 a portrait of nine old men and women leading hardscrabble, eccentric, lonely lives far removed from the hurly-burly of the modern world. The second one is the visually compelling Organ<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. \u0160tefan Uher) depicting Slovak Republic during World War II.
\nFurther\u00a0Slovak feature films shown are recent titles produced last year: the Slovak box-office hit 38<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Daniel Dangl, Luk\u00e1\u0161 Zednikovi\u010d) \u2013 a documentary film on the recently deceased ice-hockey legend, Pavol Demitra; the fiction feature debut by award-winning documentarist Jaro Vojtek Children<\/strong><\/em><\/a> \u2013 presenting an authentic picture of damaged family relations; and Fair Play<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Andrea Sedl\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1) \u2013\u00a0a story of 18-year-old sprinter struggling for better life.<\/p>\n

In addition, a\u00a0selection of short films will be freely accessible on the touchscreens in the ACMI Australian Mediatheque<\/a> every day except Sep 25.\u00a0Six short Slovak films will be introduced within the Czech & Slovak Short Films<\/a>\u00a0section: Fongopolis<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Joanna Ko\u017cuch), Force of Attraction<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Eva Sekere\u0161ov\u00e1), Green Line<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martina Buchelov\u00e1), Half B\u00e1bka<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jasmine Elsen), Kuku<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Henrich \u017ducha), Love <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Maja Brnu\u0161\u00e1kov\u00e1).<\/p>\n

Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia is organized by Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia Inc.<\/a> (CaSFFA), in cooperation with the Slovak Film Institute (SFI), production company\u00a0ARINA<\/a> and Iksima<\/a>,\u00a0with the support of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a>. Partners of the event are V\u0160MU<\/a>, Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic<\/a>, Embassy of Slovak Republic in Canberra<\/a>, Slovak Tourist Board<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0the showcase in Melbourne, the\u00a0Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia 2015\u00a0will be running in Sydney<\/a> (October 21 \u2013 25, 2015) and in Perth<\/a> (November 19 \u2013 22, 2015).<\/p>\n
