The documentary Autumn festival season has opened! The <\/span>19th edition of <\/span>Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (October 27 \u2013 November 1, 2015)<\/a> hosts several Slovak films, some of them in the international premiere.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition section Between the Seas, for the countries and nations of Central and Eastern Europe, including their historical, political, and cultural relationships, brings two Slovak long-awaited films: the mosaic about great and small expectations Waiting Room<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Palo Korec) and documentary jam session Steam on the River<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Robert Kirchhoff, Filip Remunda).<\/p>\n

The\u00a0story of the \"\"Waiting Room<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Palo Korec) shows a woman\u2019s life-cycle through the various forms of waiting based on the specific life stories of real women as they occur or occurred in their lives. It is a documentary mosaic of life, which in some moments is transformed into a harsh sociological study of today\u2019s world. All stories are linked by the waiting room at the Central Station of Bratislava and the fragmented view of the world.<\/p>\n

The transience of the fame is the main topic of the Steam on the River<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Robert Kirchhoff, Filip Remunda). The film provides a glimpse into the lives of three aging jazzmen: trumpet player Laco Deczi, saxophonist \u013dubom\u00edr Tama\u0161kovi\u010d and double-bass player J\u00e1n Jankeje, who fled from the Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia to the West, where their stars shone alongside those of the world\u2019s famous musicians. <\/span>Steam o<\/em><\/strong>n<\/em><\/strong> th<\/em><\/strong>e River<\/em><\/strong> will be also screened within the <\/span>East Silver Market<\/span> and\u00a0compete for Silver Eye Award for the best feature-length film.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Slovak member of the Between the Seas Jury is the scriptwriter and documentarist Viera \u010c\u00e1kanyov\u00e1.<\/p>\n

The sidebars Czech Joy and Special Event: Czech Landscape present\u00a0three coproduction films.\u00a0Excursions or History of the Present<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(dir. Jan Gogola) and The Czech Way<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martin Kohout) will be screened in the first mentioned section and Climbing Higher<\/em><\/strong> (dir. David \u010c\u00e1lek) is prepared for the second one.<\/p>\n

Another co-production title will be shown within the Doc-fi. If you want to discover wheather the boundary between documentary and fiction exists do not miss the screening of the Slovak-Czech festival hit by Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd Koza<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Documentaries produced by the Czech Television find also\u00a0the place within the Festival programme. The selection of these films includes\u00a0the Slovak-coproduction Through the Eyes of the Photographer<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(dir. Matej Min\u00e1\u010d).<\/p>\n

This year again, there are\u00a0Slovak representatives also in the Industry programme. Among others, Slovak guests of the East Silver Market\u00a0are: Monika Miku\u0161ov\u00e1, Eva \u010carnogursk\u00e1, Adam Hanuljak, Tom\u00e1\u0161 Kaminsk\u00fd, Juraj Klaudiny, Krist\u00edna Schnirzov\u00e1.
\nThe Ex Oriente Film, an international training programme supporting the development and funding of creative documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe, will host one Slovak representative: Reach the Sky<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martin Kondrla).<\/p>\n
