The selection of the respected festival contains a mid-length film <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/5-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>5 October<\/em><\/a> by Martin Kollar and a short <em>Gardeners<\/em> by Mira Fornay.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The mid-length debut of the established cinematographer and photographer Martin Kollar <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/5-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>5 October<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0will be screened in the official selection programme Bright Future: Mid-length with another nine films.\u00a0The film portrays director\u00b4s brother Jan and tells a quiet story about a man facing the possibility of only having a few months to live and embarking on a vagrant journey with only a \u201cdeadline\u201d \u2013 5 October. The film has already\u00a0drawn attention at the 50th Karlovy Vary IFF\u00b4s presentation Docu Talents from the East (under its previous title The Sphere).<br \/>\nMartin Kollar made his directorial debut with\u00a0a short autobiographical picture <strong><em>Autoportrait<\/em><\/strong>. As a cinematographer he has worked on a number of films, including <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/koza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Koza<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd), <strong><em>Velvet Terrorists<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Pavol Pekar\u010d\u00edk, Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd, Peter Kerekes), <strong><em>Cooking History<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Kerekes), <strong><em>66 seasons<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Kerekes) and others.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Gardeners, <\/strong><\/em>a film by successful Slovak director and producer Mira Fornay, is part of the festival\u00b4s combined programme This Is Where Reconstruction Starts. IFF Rotterdam asked six filmmakers from all corners of the world to make a cinematographic reflection on the theme of &#8220;reconstruction&#8221; to mark the events surrounding 75 years of the reconstruction of Rotterdam, a city that now has inhabitants from 175 different countries. Mira Fornay has decided to capture a story of Kon whose life is in danger in Tanzania.
