The International Film Festival Karlovy Vary<\/a> (July 1 \u2013 9 2016) unveils its Official Selection Competition line-up featuring two Slovak titles: Slovak-Czech co-production\u00a0The Teacher<\/em><\/a> by the acclaimed Czech director Jan H\u0159ebejk and The Wolf from Royal Vineyard Street, <\/em>the last film of the recently deceased Czech legend Jan N\u011bmec.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Popular author duo Jan H\u0159ebejk and scriptwriter Petr Jarchovsk\u00fd comes with the drama from 1980’s based in Czechoslovakia. Since the arrival of the new teacher, Maria Drazdechova, to a Bratislava suburban school, life has turned upside down for students and parents. The convincement of the teacher\u2019s corrupted behaviour and one of the students’ suicide attempt that could be related to that matter, makes the school Principal call the students\u2019 parents for an urgent meeting that will suddenly put the future of all the families at stake.<\/p>\n

The Teacher<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is H\u0159ebejk’s first Slovak majority film, starring well-known Slovak actors Zuzana Maur\u00e9ry, Peter Bebjak, Zuzana Kone\u010dn\u00e1, Csongor Kassai, Attila Mokos or \u00c9va Bandor. The film was co-produced by PubRes<\/a> (SK), OFFSIDEMEN<\/a> (CZ), RTVS – Rozhlas a telev\u00edzia Slovenska <\/a>(SK) and \u010cesk\u00e1 televize <\/a>(CZ). The sales are handled by LevelK<\/a>. The film was supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a>, Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic<\/a> and the State Cinematography Fund<\/a> (CZ).<\/p>\n

The\u00a0world premiere also waits for\u00a0The Wolf from Royal Vineyard Street, <\/em><\/strong>the final work\u00a0by one of the most original and nonconformist Czech New Wave director Jan N\u011bmec who died in March this year at the age of 79. The\u00a0Czech-Slovak-French comedy based on the director\u2019s life depicts a story of\u00a0Wolf, a savage, tricky and uncontrollable creature; Wolf in sheep\u2019s clothing and the other way round. J\u00ed\u0159\u00ed M\u00e1dl\u00a0plays Jan N\u011bmec\u00a0alter ego.

\n<\/strong>The\u00a0film was\u00a0co-produced by MasterFilm<\/a> (CZ), Bocalupo Films<\/a> (FR), \u010cesk\u00e1 televize<\/a> (CZ), MEDIA FILM (SK),\u00a0UPP (CZ) and supported by the\u00a0State Cinematography Fund<\/a> (CZ) and Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a>.
