Slovakia Film Festival\u00a0commences\u00a0o<\/strong>n Friday, October 14, 2016\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0<\/strong>Taipei (Taiwan); the event will continue until Sunday, October 30.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Festival is organized and the films from the archive of Slovak\u00a0Film Institute were selected by Slovak Economic and Cultural Office in\u00a0Taipei, in co-operation with Woolloomooloo Moonshiner Cinema, also the site of the event.<\/p>\n

The Office’s selection of seven films represents decades from\u00a01970’s till 1990′ and offers a look into Slovak cinema in its\u00a0variability: it includes two animation films of Victor Kubal,\u00a0Brigand\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Jurko<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1976) and The<\/strong><\/em> Bloody Lady<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(1980), comedy\u00a0Sweet Troubles<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Juraj\u00a0Herz (1984), Du\u0161an Rapo\u0161’s music film about puppy love\u00a0The Fountain f<\/em><\/strong>or Suzanne<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(1985), bitter comedy-comment on regimes’s swaps and\u00a0evolutions in former Czechoslovakia by Juraj Jakubisko\u00a0Sitting on the\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Branch I Am Fine<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(1989), drama about two World War 2 refugees\u00a0A Path A<\/em><\/strong>cross the Danube<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Miloslav Luther (1989), and the feature debut of\u00a0Martin \u0160ul\u00edk, drama about political and private changes after the\u00a01989,\u00a0Tenderness<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(1991).<\/p>\n

Aside from the interesting offer of the films, the visitors of Woolloomooloo Moonshiner, where the Festival takes place, are most welcome to the exhibition of the Slovak film posters, as well as the presentations \u2013 talks with the Taiwanese about their experiences of Slovakia and Slovak culture, taking place every Saturday during the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
