\"\"The 11th edition of MUCES – Segovia European Film Festival<\/a> (November 16 \u2013 22, 2016) kicks off featuring Slovak cinema retrospective! A selection of the most iconic titles in the history of Slovak cinematography includes films from the very beginning to the most contemporary ones.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The festival brings four Slovak films in the Spanish premiere within the main competition selection: Eva Nov\u00e1 <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Marko \u0160kop), Koza\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd) and Slovak minorities I, Olga Hepnarova<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Weinreb, Petr Kazda) and Family Film<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Olmo Omerzu).<\/p>\n

The Slovak retrospective section\u00a0features titles: <\/em>The Sun in a Net<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. \u0160tefan Uher), The Boxer and Death <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Peter Solan), Birdies, Orphans and Fools<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Juraj Jakubisko), I Love, You Love<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k), A Path Across the Danube <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Miloslav Luther) and Everything I Love<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martin \u0160ul\u00edk).<\/p>\n

The documentary section shows gems like Paper Heads<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k) and The Power of Good<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Matej Min\u00e1\u010d). Another gemstone \u2013 a feature animated film by Slovak legendary animator Viktor Kubal – Jurko, the Bandit <\/em><\/strong><\/a>is screened within the section Children to the Cinema.<\/p>\n

A rich pick of Slovak films is\u00a0further presented in\u00a0the sidebar Unheard: Blind Loves<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dit. Juraj Lehotsk\u00fd), Soul at Peace<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Vladim\u00edr Balko) and Detour on the way to the perfect<\/em> illusion<\/em><\/strong> (dir. R\u00f3bert Fi\u013eo) which are accompanied by six short animated films In the Box <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Michal Struss), Twins<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Budinsk\u00fd), Nina<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Veronika Obertov\u00fd and Michaela \u010cop\u00edkov\u00e1), Pandas <\/strong><\/em>(dir. <\/em>Mat\u00fa\u0161 Viz\u00e1r), Who’s there? <\/strong><\/em>(dir. Vanda Raymanov\u00e1) and If Not, then Not <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Vladim\u00edr Kr\u00e1l).<\/p>\n

A special screening of J\u00e1no\u0161\u00edk<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(dir. Jaroslav Siake\u013e) will be held in the St. Quirce Church. Music for the screening was composed especially for this occasion by Slovak musician and composer Robert Faltus who seeks inspiration in traditional Slovak Folk melodies.<\/p>\n

Part of the festival is also a lecture by film historian and publicist Katar\u00edna Mi\u0161\u00edkov\u00e1 focusing on the social realism in films Eva Nov\u00e1<\/em><\/strong> and Koza<\/em><\/strong>.
\nFurthemore,\u00a0an exhibition of film posters entitled Slovak Cinematography in Pictures will be displayed in the cultural centre La Alh\u00f3ndiga from November 16 to 30.<\/p>\n

The showcase of Slovak films at MUCES – Segovia European Film Festival is held in reference to the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union.<\/p>\n
