The Slovak nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film Award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences<\/a> (AMPAS), also known as the Oscar, is Eva Nov\u00e1<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>by Marko \u0160kop.<\/p>\n

The submission for the Oscars Foreign Language Category is based on the voting of the members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy. SFTA <\/a>members have chosen \u0160kop\u00b4s fiction feature debut from the following films which met the AMPAS conditions:<\/p>\n

\nAnton Srholec<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Alena \u010cerm\u00e1kov\u00e1)
\nThe Cleaner <\/strong><\/em><\/a>(dir. Peter Bebjak)
\nWaiting Room<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Palo Korec)
\nEva Nov\u00e1<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Marko \u0160kop)
\nVojtech <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Viktor Csudai)
\nThe Red Captain<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Michal Koll\u00e1r)
\nAgave <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(dir. Ondrej \u0160ulaj)
\nStanko <\/strong><\/em><\/a>(dir. Ras\u0165o Boro\u0161)
\nSteam on the River<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Robert Kirchhoff, Filip Remunda)
\nOkhwan’s Mission Impossible<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Marek Mackovi\u010d)
\nWhen Land Is Looking for Its Heaven<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Erik Praus)
\nThe Teacher<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Jan H\u0159ebejk)
\nFreedom Under Load <\/strong><\/em><\/a>(dir. Pavol Barab\u00e1\u0161).<\/p>\n

Eva\u00a0Nov\u00e1<\/em><\/strong> tells the story of\u00a0former film star, now\u00a0a recovered alcoholic,\u00a0who would do anything to regain the love of the one she hurt the most \u2013 her son.<\/p>\n

The film was\u00a0premiered at Toronto IFF 2015 where it received FIPRESCI Award and has also been nominated by the Slovak Film and Television Academy for this year\u00b4s EFA Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n
