Slovak Film Days in Budapest kick off already this Thursday, Septermber 15. The three-day showcase of Slovak films will carry the slogan: Look into your neighbour’s eyes and will be held in the premisses of Toldi Cinema. Its aim is to present to the Hungarian audience a selection of five successful contemporary Slovak films produced within the last three years, all awarded with the main national prize Sun in a Net.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The selection comprises the following films: Eva Nov\u00e1 <\/strong><\/em><\/a>(2015) by Marko \u0160kop, Children <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(2014) by Jaro Vojtek, Koza<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2015) by Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd, The Cleaner<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2015) by Peter Bebjak, as well as the Czech and Slovak coproduction feature Home Care<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (2015) by Sl\u00e1vek Hor\u00e1k.<\/p>\n

The showcase is organized by The Slovak Institute in Budapest<\/a>, in co-operation with Slovak Film Institute and Toldi Cinema<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition, another showcase will take place in Budapest parallel to Slovak Film Days, showing films from the Blu-ray collection made in honour of Slovak Presidency at the Council of the European Union. From september to december 2016, eight recognized Slovak films will be presented at the cultural premises Aurora and K\u00e9k L\u00f3 in Budapest, notably: The Boxer and Death<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1962) by Peter Solan, The Sun in a Net<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1962) by \u0160tefan Uher, Birdies, Orphans and Fools<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (1969) by Juraj Jakubisko, Everything I Love<\/em><\/strong>(1992) by Martin \u0160ul\u00edk, Paper Heads <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(1995) by Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k, The Power of Good \u2013 Nicholas Winton <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(2002) by Matej Min\u00e1\u010d, Blind Loves<\/strong><\/a><\/em> (2008) by Juraj Lehotsk\u00fd and Soul at Peace <\/em><\/strong><\/a>(2009) by Vladim\u00edr Balko.<\/p>\n

Both events are held in reference to the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union and aim to enthrall the Hungarian audience by drawing attention on successful contemporary, as well as archive Slovak films and bringing them into the spotlight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
