\"\"The Slovak nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film Award of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences<\/a> (AMPAS), also known as the Oscar, is The Line<\/strong> <\/em>by Peter Bebjak.<\/p>\n

The submission for the Oscars Foreign Language Category is based on the voting of the members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy. SFTA <\/a>members have chosen Bebjak’s feature from the following films which met the AMPAS conditions:

The Line<\/strong><\/em><\/a> tells a story of Adam Kraj\u0148\u00e1k, the head of the family and also boss of a gang of criminals smuggling cigarettes across the Slovak-Ukrainian border. The failure of one of the transports triggers an avalanche of consequences that compels him to question his own boundaries, none of which he had planned on crossing until now.<\/p>\n

The Line<\/strong><\/em> was premiered at Karlovy Vary IFF 2017 where it received the Best Director Award.<\/p>\n
