The Slovak New Wave showcase will take place between February 8 \u2013 21, 2018 and will introduce one documentary and four fiction films made by five Slovak directors in the Sixties and early Seventies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first film will be <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/the-sun-in-a-net\/\"><em>The Sun in a Net<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by \u0160tefan Uher, a lyrical story about emotions, growing up and the shy love of a young generation. The next presented film will be <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/before-tonight-is-over\/\"><em>Before the Night is Over<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by Peter Solan, a mosaic of stories of various characters, connected by one night spent in a luxury nightclub. The showcase will introduce also the novel adaptation of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/dragon-s-return\/\"><em>Dragon&#8217;s Return<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. Director Eduard Gre\u010dner shot a vivid film about love, hate and loneliness with an accent on psychology of the main characters. The last fiction film in this showcase\u00a0is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/wild-lilies\/\"><em>Wild Lilies<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by Elo Havetta, lyrical tragicomedy set in a village after WWI. The film selection of The Slovak New Wave was put together by programmer of the Cinematheque Antti Alanen. The last film of the showcase is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/pictures-of-the-old-world\/\"><em>Pictures of the Old World<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k) &#8211; the only documentary in the showcase, inspired by the work of renowned photographer Martin Martin\u010dek. The portraits of villagers opens discussion about existential matters of human kind.<\/p>\n<p>Slovak archive films have already been presented to the Finnish audience before.
