The fourth edition of Slovak Film Week<\/a> showcase (April 9 \u2013 15, 2018) will present Slovak cinema of 2017, the succesful year of record-breaking attendance. Peter Mih\u00e1lik Award<\/a> for recognition of work in the field of film studies will be given during the opening ceremony. The showcase will be held in nine other Slovak cities beside Bratislava: Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica, Ke\u017emarok, Ko\u0161ice, Martin, Nitra, Spi\u0161sk\u00e1 Nov\u00e1 Ves, Tren\u010d\u00edn, Trnava a \u017dilina.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Slovak Film Week<\/strong> will present a total of 39 Slovak films \u2013 22 feature films, 12 documentaries and 5 animations. The selection is focusing on films with remarkably high attendance in domestic cinemas or films that were successful on the international film festival circuit.<\/p>\n

A significant part of the programme of Slovak Film Week consists of the accompanying events. Traditionally, the three panels will be evaluating Slovak feature, documentary and animated works of 2017 and the other four panels will be treating selected topics from the screened films. Masterclass will be held by successful Slovak DOP Martin \u017diaran. The film quiz \u2013 Clever Monday will challenge the competitors\u00b4 knowledge about Slovak cinema. The panel about film studies in Slovakia will be held by film theorists Martin Ciel and Katar\u00edna Mi\u0161\u00edkov\u00e1, the seminar about important Slovak film publicist Pavel Branko will present his lifelong contribution to Slovak cinema.<\/p>\n

The award for the outstanding contribution to Slovak cinema for this year goes to the set designers Viliam J. Gruska and Roman Rjachovsk\u00fd. The exhibition of their work will be installed in Lumi\u00e8re Cinema<\/a> between April 8th and 29th, 2018. The showcase will also screen the films they worked on.<\/p>\n

The event will be held after the Slovak National Film Awards The Sun in a Net 2018<\/a> (April 6, 2018) which will be broadcasted live on TV channel Jednotka (RTVS<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Slovak Film Week is organized by Slovak Film and TV Academy <\/a>(SFTA) in cooperation with Radio and TV of Slovakia<\/a> (RTVS) and the Slovak Film Institute. The showcase is supported by Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a>, autors’ company LITA<\/a>, Slovak Post<\/a> and the idea was supported by the Tatra Banka Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
