The 31st edition of the film festival Fin\u00e1le Plze\u0148<\/a> (April 19 \u2013 24, 2018) brings a programme full of Slovak films. The international jury will select the best films in three categories and choose the winners of the Golden Kingfisher Award.<\/p>\n

In the Feature Live Action or Animated Films Competition\u00a0will vie Ice Mother<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Bohdan Sl\u00e1ma), The Line<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Peter Bebjak), Little Crusade<\/strong>r<\/em><\/a> (dir. V\u00e1clav Kadrnka), Nina<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(d. Juraj Lehotsk\u00fd), OUT<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Gy\u00f6rgy Krist\u00f3f), Little Harbour<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Iveta Gr\u00f3fov\u00e1), Barefoot<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir. Jan Sv\u011br\u00e1k) and Garden Store: Deserter <\/em><\/a><\/strong>(dir. Jan H\u0159ebejk).<\/p>\n

The Documentary Film Competition\u00a0will feature four films. These are The Lust for Power<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Tereza Nvotov\u00e1), Grey Lizard Conspiracy<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Maro\u0161 Ber\u00e1k), The White World According to Daliborek<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. V\u00edt Klus\u00e1k) and Heavy Heart<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Marek \u0160ul\u00edk).<\/p>\n

Three student films were selected for the Student Short Film Competition: successful Atlantis, 2003<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by Michal Bla\u0161ko and Magic Moments<\/em><\/strong> by Martina Buchelov\u00e1. selFISH<\/strong> <\/em>by Luk\u00e1\u0161 Fige\u013e is the only Slovak animation in competition.<\/p>\n

In the Nets of 2017 \u2013 a non-competition selection of feature films will include DOGG<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Jon\u00e1\u0161 Kar\u00e1sek, Enrik Bistika, Slavom\u00edr Zrebn\u00fd, Vilo Csino), Filthy<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir. Tereza Nvotov\u00e1), Kidnapping<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Mariana \u010cengel Sol\u010dansk\u00e1), Garden Store: Suitor <\/em><\/a><\/strong>(dir. Jan H\u0159ebejk) and Garden Store: The Family Friend <\/em><\/a><\/strong>(dir. Jan H\u0159ebejk).<\/p>\n

Documentary Dimensions 2017 will present Ten Years of Love<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Adam Hanuljak), Addicted to Altitude<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Pavol Barab\u00e1\u0161) and \u010cerven\u00e1<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Olga Sommerov\u00e1).<\/p>\n

The festival programme will also present recent films that are still appearing in programmes of film festivals or in the domestic cinemas. Riding the 2018 section includes two Slovak co-productions, The Interpreter<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by Martin \u0160ul\u00edk and Insect<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>by Jan \u0160vankmajer. Both films were world premiered at the prestigious European film festivals at the beginning of this year, The Intepreter<\/em><\/strong> at the Berlinale and Insect<\/strong> <\/em>at the IFF Rotterdam.<\/p>\n

First Catch will bring Czech avant-premiere of feature film Dub\u010dek<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>by Laco Halama.<\/p>\n

Fin\u00e1le Plze\u0148<\/strong><\/a> is the only platform in Czech Republic also keeping track of television and internet production. Four series will compete in Serial and Non-serial TV and Internet Production Competition: 1890 \u2013 Episode 1<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Beg\u00e1nyi), Shadow of the Ferns \u2013 Episode 5 <\/strong><\/em>(dir. Marek Najbrt), Secret Lives II \u2013 Episode 13<\/em><\/strong> (dir. J\u00e1n Sebechlebsk\u00fd), Behind the Mirror II \u2013 Episode 1<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Peter Bebjak, R\u00f3bert \u0160veda, Michal Bla\u0161ko) and Maria Therese<\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Robert Dornhelm).<\/p>\n
