The I<\/span>nternational Festival of Animated Films Anifilm in T\u0159ebo\u0148<\/a>, Czech Republic (May 1 \u2013 6, 2018) will introduce work of multiple generations of Slovak animators. The festival will also host a Visegrad Animation Forum<\/a> platform for film professionals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yellow<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, a film by Ivana \u0160ebestov\u00e1, will compete within the International Competition of Short Films, only a few weeks before being part of the competition at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival<\/a>. Young generation of Slovak animated film authors will be represented by two directors. International Competition of Student Films will introduce a papercut animation FOOD<\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Michaela Mih\u00e1lyiov\u00e1) and a pixilation Woo-Hoo!<\/em><\/strong> by D\u00e1vid \u0160tumpf will compete at Czech Horizon: Student Films competition.<\/p>\n

Accompanying programme will present 3D animated TV series for kids The Websters <\/em><\/a><\/strong>(dir. Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1), winner of Slovak national film Award The Sun in a Net <\/a>for Best Animation in 2017. In memoriam of Slovak actor Milan Labuda, festival will screen TV series Emil Pamp\u00fa\u0161ik<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Blanka \u0160perkov\u00e1) from 1990s.<\/p>\n

Anifilm<\/strong> will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of founding of Czechoslovakia. The selection 100 years of the CSR consists of the sole film by Juraj Bindz\u00e1r Eye<\/em>, animated music video The Song<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jaroslava Havettov\u00e1) based on a song by Waldemar Matu\u0161ka and Helena Vondr\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1, and digitally restored short animations by Viktor Kubal Chess<\/em> <\/strong>and The Idol<\/strong>. The Queues<\/strong><\/em> by Helena Slav\u00edkov\u00e1-Rabarov\u00e1 reflects on one of the features of living in socialist era, and The Last Stone<\/em><\/strong> (dir. J\u00falius Hu\u010dko) criticize the same epoch, mainly art censorship.<\/p>\n

The festival will also screen Insect<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, Slovak co-production by Jan \u0160vankmajer within the Taking Stock section.<\/p>\n

Visegrad Animation Forum with Slovak Participation (VAF)
\nAnifilm traditionally hosts Visegrad Animation Forum<\/a>, film industry and market platform for film professionals focused on animation, with the aim to attract potential partners, producers, broadcasters and film distributors, and to assist in finding ways of financing shorts, animated features and TV series.<\/p>\n

Main Pitching competitions at VAF also include three Slovak projects in the official selection. Criss Cross<\/strong><\/em> by Nina Tur\u010danov\u00e1, the first Slovak embroidermation will be presented in Short Film category. KA-BOOM! <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Veronika Kocourkov\u00e1), Slovak representant in the Series\/TV specials category, explains natural phenomenons and disasters in stories designed for children. Of Unwanted Things and People<\/em><\/strong> is an upcoming coproduction of four directors, with the participation of Ivana Lau\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1.<\/p>\n

New Talents, <\/em>the selection focusing on films by extraordinary talents with promising future careers, introduces Tutti<\/strong> <\/em>(dir. Marek Jasa\u0148) and Contrast<\/strong> <\/em>(dir. Barbora B\u00e1rkov\u00e1).<\/p>\n

Slovak participation at VAF is coordinated by the Slovak Association of Animation Producers<\/a> (APAF).<\/p>\n
