The main topic of 58th Zl\u00edn Film Festival<\/a> for children and youth (May 25 \u2013 June 2, 2018) will be the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. The celebration will be reflected in multiple programme sections that will show a number of contemporary, as well as archive Slovak films.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this year\u00b4s edition, Slovak films will compete within four sections. International Competition of Feature Films for Children will introduce family film The Third Wish<\/em><\/a><\/strong> by V\u00edt Karas and dance film Backstage<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>by Andrea Sedl\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1 will compete in International Competition of Feature Films for Youth.<\/p>\n

International Competition of Animated Films for Children will bring episode Hero Daddy<\/em><\/strong> from TV series The Websters<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1) to the big sceen.<\/p>\n

Three Slovak shorts will compete in International Competition of Student Films Zl\u00edn Dog. Animation Scandinavia<\/em> <\/strong>by Katar\u00edna Ko\u010danov\u00e1 from The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava<\/a> and shorts Havenofear<\/em> <\/strong>by Jakub Gajdo\u0161 and JUTUB.COM <\/strong><\/em>by R\u00f3bert Bo\u0161e\u013ea from The Academy of Arts in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Informative section focused on contemporary cinema Czech Films and TV Production will introduce Nina<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>by Juraj Lehotsk\u00fd and Barefoot<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>by Jan Sv\u011br\u00e1k.<\/p>\n

The festivals\u00b4 main theme will be also reflected in section Czechoslovakian Cinema: Films of My Childhood, curated by influential actors and filmmakers. The selection contains four films from the archive of Slovak Film Institute: If I Had a Gun<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. \u0160tefan Uher), tragicomic tale of boys who played at being soldiers, drama story Wolves’ Lairs<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Pa\u013eo Bielik) which equally takes place during the Slovak National Uprising and fairytale classics Lady Winter<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Juraj Jakubisko) and Salt More than Gold<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Martin Holl\u00fd).<\/p>\n

Last but not least, the celebration of Czechoslovakia\u00b4s anniversary will also be reflected in the Golden Slipper award for extraordinary contribution to cinema for children that will go Slovak actress Magda Va\u0161\u00e1ryov\u00e1 and Czech actor Jarom\u00edr Hanzl\u00edk.
