Slovak audiovisual production is one of the essential programme elements of the Summer Film School Uhersk\u00e9 Hradi\u0161te<\/a><\/strong> (July 27 \u2013 August 5, 2018). Its 44th edition will present the latest Slovak films and co-productions, films from National Film Archive collection of the Slovak Film Institute and the work of talented film school students.<\/p>\n

New Film Releases will present the selection of Czech and Slovak film production of past 12 months. A directorial feature debut Domestique<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir. Adam Sedl\u00e1k), a road movie Winter Flies<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Olmo Omerzu) and a family drama Moments<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir. Beata Parkanov\u00e1) that after their world premieres at the 53rd Karlovy Vary IFF are among the most anticipated films of the festival. The section will also screen The Interpreter<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Martin \u0160ul\u00edk), Insect<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Jan \u0160vankmajer), Intimate Enemy<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Karel Jan\u00e1k) and black & white version of Barefoot<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Jan Sv\u011br\u00e1k). The 44th Summer Film School will close with world premiere of Robert Sedl\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s latest film Jan Palach<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. This feature film is a reconstruction of the last months and weeks of the young student who sacrificed his life in 1969 in a protest against the Occupation of Czechoslovakia.<\/p>\n

Contemporary Slovak cinema will also be represented in the other programme sections. Open Air Cinema\/New Films with innogy will introduce Garden Store: Deserter<\/em><\/strong> and Garden Store: Suitor <\/em><\/strong>by Jan H\u0159ebejk. Central outdoor cinema venue on Masaryk Square will screen Barefoot<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Jan Sv\u011br\u00e1k) and Backstage<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Andrea Sedl\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1) too.<\/p>\n

Summer Film School Uhersk\u00e9 Hradi\u0161te will honor Meir Lubor Dohnal, Czechoslovak scriptwriter who co-worked on films by Elo Havetta, Juraj Jakubisko or Juraj Herz. On this special occasion festival will screen digitally restored films from the collection of National Film Archive of Slovak Film Institute The Prime of Life<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Juraj Jakubisko), Celebration in the Botanical Garden<\/em> <\/a><\/strong>(dir. Elo Havetta) and a tribute to director Elo Havetta Celebration of a Lonely Palm<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Marko \u0160kop, Juraj Johanides).<\/p>\n

S<\/em>election of the best student films from Czech and Slovak film schools Student Films will introduce short film Atlantis, 2003<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>by Michal Bla\u0161ko and shorts by Martina Buchelov\u00e1 Magic Moments <\/em><\/strong>and Idiot<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

CinEd<\/em> will present The Blue Tiger<\/em> (d. Petr Oukropec). By screening the Czech-Slovak film Some Secrets<\/em> (d. Alice Nellis), the festival will pay a tribute to its special guest, actress Iva Jan\u017eurov\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Slovak and co-production documentaries will be represented by The Lust for Power <\/em><\/a><\/strong>(dir. Tereza Nvotov\u00e1) within ACFC Presents: Film Distribution section and P.S.<\/em> section will introduce Circus Rwanda<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Michal Varga). Short film M is for Malnutrition<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Czikrai) will be screened within Horor Planet Dark section.<\/p>\n

During the Slovak Day (Tuesday, July 31), a discussion Inventory of Slovak Film will be held, in which scriptwriter Marek Le\u0161\u010d\u00e1k, Peter Kot (Film Distributors Union), Zuzana Mistr\u00edkov\u00e1 (Association of Independent Producers), director of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund Martin \u0160matl\u00e1k, film director Martin \u0160ul\u00edk, producer Marian Urban and film theorist Katar\u00edna Mi\u0161\u00edkov\u00e1 will talk about the topics such as financing of Slovak film production, audience attendance or the emerging generation of film professionals.<\/p>\n

On this day, books, publications, DVDs and Blu-rays from the editorial department of SFI will be sold at discounted prices in Kino Hv\u011bzda.<\/p>\n

The main organizer of Summer Film School Uhersk\u00e9 Hradi\u0161te is Association of Czech Film Clubs<\/a> (ACFC). Presentation of Slovak audiovisual industry at the 44th SFS is secured by Association of Slovak Film Clubs <\/a>(ASFC) and the Slovak Film Institute, with financial support of Slovak Audiovisual Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n
