The Chinese Film Festival (September 20 \u2013 23, 2018) will present contemporary Chinese cinema at Lumi\u00e8re Cinema<\/a> in Bratislava. The selection of seven films reflects the wide range of genres and the actual social issues of the country as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Opening Night\u00b4s drama My Running Shadow<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Gangliang Fang) tells a story of a woman who soon after abandoned by her husband discovers her son is diagnosed with Asperger\u00b4s Syndrome. Competitivity and sport are the key words of the film To the Fore<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Dante Lam) that depicts world\u00b4s top cycling team. The main character of the romantic film Somewhere Only We<\/strong> Know <\/strong><\/em>(dir. XU Jinglei) gets on trip to Prague to find mysterious \u201ethe place only we know\u201c mentioned in her grandmother\u00b4s love letter. Fourdays showcase will also screen So Young<\/em><\/strong>, debut by actress Vicki ZHAO Wei, tells a story of four women and their life journeys. The consequences of the past are dealt with in action film Wolf Warrior<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jacky WU Jing). Leng \u2013 after having served his time for shooting a man without given order – is transferred to the elite Wolf Warrior detachment to fight for his life threatened by a group of deadly foreign mercenaries.<\/p>\n

The festival will also present the latest film of French director Jean-Jacques Annaud. Wolf Totem<\/em><\/strong> depicts the life in the endless, harsh and breathtakingly beautiful wilderness of Inner Mongolia where a young student from Beijing is sent. Closing Night\u00b4s romantic comedy Let’s Get Married<\/em><\/strong> by LIU Jiang, based on the hugely popular Chinese TV series, follows the lives of four couples looking for love.<\/p>\n

Organizer of the Chinese Film Festival is the Slovak Film Institute on behalf of Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic<\/a>, in cooperation with Chinese Embassy in Slovakia.<\/p>\n

All screenings are free admission.<\/p>\n
