{"id":38132,"date":"2019-04-26T14:26:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T12:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=38132"},"modified":"2025-08-21T10:33:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T08:33:22","slug":"traces-of-experiment-zagreb","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/traces-of-experiment-zagreb\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovak traces of experiment to be presented in Zagreb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/tuskanac.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" class=\"table\" \/><strong>On April 30, 2019 the internationally renowned <a href=\"http:\/\/kinotuskanac.hr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kino Tu\u0161kanac<\/a> in Zagreb will screen <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/pictures-of-the-old-world\/\"><em>Pictures of the Old World<\/em><\/a> by Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k and a program of Slovak experimental documentary shorts made in 1960s and 1970s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seven short films will be presented in the program titled Traces of Experiment in Slovak Short Films. \u201c<em>The selection of films traces the most significant short films made mostly during the \u2018Golden Era\u2019 of 1960s, when political interference and bureaucratic control of filmmaking in nationalized Czechoslovak film industry was weakened. For the first time since the post-war restart of Slovak cinema in 1945, it was mostly a young generation of filmmakers who began to exhibit certain experimental tendencies which can be traced mostly in the works by Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k, Juraj Jakubisko and Du\u0161an Tran\u010d\u00edk. However, also filmmakers of older generation (documentary filmmakers such as Vlado Kubenko and Martin Slivka) began seeking different ways of working with cinematic images, music or sound discovering new ways how not to represent, not to narrate (refusing the use of voiceover) and not to illustrate<\/em>,\u201d says Mari\u00e1n Hausner and Martin Ka\u0148uch from Slovak Film Institute, who curated the program.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Water and Work<\/em><\/strong> (1963) by Martin Slivka, <strong><em>Old Shatterhand Came to See Us<\/em><\/strong> by Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k, <em><strong>Switch Tower<\/strong> <strong>Hell<\/strong><\/em> by Vlado Kubenko, <strong><em>Blazing Rivers <\/em><\/strong>by Ctibor Kov\u00e1\u010d, <strong><em>Photographing the House Dwellers<\/em><\/strong> by Du\u0161an Tran\u010d\u00edk, <em><strong>Eye<\/strong> <\/em>by Juraj Bindz\u00e1r, and <em><strong>The Red Cross Drummer<\/strong><\/em> by Juraj Jakubisko will be screened. The selection is based on program presented at last years\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kurzfilmtage.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Short Film Festival Oberhausen<\/a>.
