\"\"Multiple Slovak films will premiere at the 27th Art Film Fest Ko\u0161ice (June 14 \u2013 22, 2019), but the festival will also present films from the past.<\/strong><\/p>\n

15 feature and one short film, as well as one work-in-progress presentation will be screened as part of Slovak Season section dedicated to national cinema. Of the 15 feature-length films two fictions and four documentaries will have their premiere at the festival.<\/p>\n

Loli paradicka<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by father-son writing-directing duo Richard and V\u00ed\u0165o Staviarsky is a tragicomedy about an unconventional Eastern Slovak romance, a sad yet funny tale of life\u2019s sorrows, longing, and hope. Thriller Casino.$k<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. J\u00e1n Sabol) is a story of gambling inside the casino as well as outside its walls.<\/p>\n

Martin Repka returns after more than a decade with feature documentary about a legendary collective of poets The Lonely Runners: Moving On!<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>Pavol Barab\u00e1\u0161 made a portrait of well-known composer Svetoz\u00e1r Stra\u010dina<\/a><\/em>. Tereza \u2013 The Charge of Love<\/em><\/strong> is an intimate film about translator and interpreter Tereza Ga\u0161par\u00edkov\u00e1 made by her son Peter Ga\u0161par\u00edk. The Calling<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Erik Praus captures the inimitable spiritual ambiance and mysticism of Pochayiv Lavra, an Eastern Orthodox monastery in Western Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Director and producer Peter Kerekes will have two of his works presented at the festival \u2013 documentary BATAstories<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>chronicling the rise of Bata\u2019s empire which he directed, and The Wind. A Documentary Thriller<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Micha\u0142 Bielawski which he produced.<\/p>\n

A selection of Slovak films from the previous year enhance the programme as well: feature debuts By a Sharp Knife<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Teodor Kuhn and Punk Never Ends!<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Juraj \u0160lauka; documentary films The Good Death<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krupa), Crazy Against the Nation<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Adam Hanuljak), and An Extra Something<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Palo Kadle\u010d\u00edk, Martin \u0160enc); Slovak minority co-productions Talks with TGM<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jakub \u010cervenka), Moments<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Beata Parkanov\u00e1) and short documentary Oymyakon: The Story of the Coldest Inhabited Place<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Dominik Bari). Work-in-progress \u0160tef\u00e1nik\u2019s Impossible Voyage<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Michael Kabo\u0161, Noro Dr\u017eiak) will have a special presentation.<\/p>\n

Slovak Season Special section will present two older Slovak films: Paper Heads<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k and Rabaka<\/em> <\/strong>by Du\u0161an Rapo\u0161.<\/p>\n

Roman Lukn\u00e1r and Ji\u0159\u00ed L\u00e1bus are recipients of this year\u2019s Actor\u2019s Mission award and the festival will screen the latter\u2019s film Clownwise<\/em> <\/a><\/strong>(dir. Viktor Tau\u0161). On the occasion of \u0160tefan Kvietik receiving The Art Film Fest IFF President’s Award, the audience will have a chance to see Peter Solan’s 1962 classic The Boxer and Death<\/em><\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Two short mountain films are part of Love & Anarchy section: 1947 Crossing the High Tatras on Skis<\/em><\/strong> by Karol Sk\u0159ipsk\u00fd and 1965 Winter Intermezzo<\/em><\/strong> by Jaroslav Pogran.<\/p>\n

Ji\u0159\u00ed Menzel\u2019s I Served the King of England<\/em><\/strong> will be screened in Kinematograf section.<\/p>\n

The Festival\u2019s Industry program consists of three parts: Inspirational Days will bring case studies of films by young directors, VFX Day will be dedicated to visual effects, and TV Industry Day will gather TV professionals from Slovakia and abroad.<\/p>\n
