The International Film Festival Cinematik<\/a> (September 10 \u2013 15, 2019) will explore the cinema of Portugal, although many Slovak films will be presented as well. Non-competitive section In the House dedicated to Slovak cinema will present a selection of new feature-length and short films. Slovak documentaries that premiered during the period of one year before the festival will compete within Cinematik.doc.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nine documentaries will vie for the Literary Fund Cinematik.doc Award. Festival-experienced The Good Death<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krupa) will compete against recently or soon to be cinema released documentaries. BATAstories<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Peter Kerekes) depicts modern global capitalism and its Czechoslovak pioneer, Tereza \u2013 The Charge of Love<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Ga\u0161par\u00edk) translator and interpreter Tereza Ga\u0161par\u00edkov\u00e1 and Svetoz\u00e1r Stra\u010dina<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Pavol Barab\u00e1\u0161) a life of an extraordinary composer and folk music collector. Young Roma men who were once adopted by Swedish families return to Slovakia as adults in the film Swedes from the Slum<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Katar\u00edna Farka\u0161ov\u00e1) to get to know their biological parents. Two Slovak paramedics from the film Lost Home<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Juraj Mravec Jr.) leave their families in order to help the Iraqi army and liberate the city of Mosul from the so-called Islamic State. The Calling<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Erik Praus) shows the fates of three monks who found peace and life fulfillment in the Ukrainian monastery. The documentary film from the original production of TV Mark\u00edza Jan and Martina<\/em><\/strong> returns to the tragic event that changed social and political life in Slovakia a year ago\u2014the murder of investigative journalist and his fianc\u00e9e. The festival will also present the world premiere of Barbora Berez\u0148\u00e1kov\u00e1’s feature debut Never Happened<\/a><\/em><\/strong> about politically motivated events of the 1990s.<\/p>\n

Cinematik will feature two Slovak fiction films in In the House section: domestic box office hit Loli Paradicka<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Richard Staviarsky, V\u00ed\u0165o Staviarsky) and drama based on true events By a Sharp Knife<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Teodor Kuhn). Student films from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and the Academy of Arts in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica will be included as well: Variations <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Peter Hoferica), Therapy by Travelling<\/em><\/strong> (d. Michal Ber\u00e1nek), The Gleam of Delicate Irony<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Kristi\u00e1n Grupa\u010d), Neptune <\/em><\/strong>(d. Tereza Dodokov\u00e1), Our Daily Dance<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Mat\u00fa\u0161 Druga), Back Home<\/em><\/strong> (d. Michal La\u010dn\u00fd), Antiquary <\/em><\/strong>(d. Dagmar Ponechalov\u00e1) and three shorts premiered at the A-list festivals Pura Vida<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martin Gonda), Kid <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Gregor Valentovi\u010d) and Poetika Anima<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Kriss Sagan). TV adaptation Nero and Seneca<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Marek \u0164ap\u00e1k) and the anthology film My Uprising 2<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Juraj \u0160tepka) will complete the section.<\/p>\n

Adventurous sci-fi for children My Grandpa Is An Alien<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Dra\u017een \u017darkovi\u0107, Marina Andree \u0160kop), film about work of journalists Non-believers<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Lucia Ka\u0161ov\u00e1) and TV series from the near future The Spot<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Bebjak) will be screened within Free zone section.<\/p>\n
