One of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe with busiest regional industry platforms Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival<\/a> (November 15 \u2013 December 1, 2019) will introduce at its 23rd edition two Slovak features including world premiere of Mira Fornay\u2019s absurd drama Cook, F**k, Kill<\/a><\/em>. Slovak cinema will also be present within Tallinn\u2019s sub-festivals Just Film<\/a>, P\u00d6FF Shorts<\/a> and at programs dedicated to film industry professionals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Feature drama Cook, F**k, Kill<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>by Mira Fornay will world premiere in the competitive section Rebel with a Cause. The tale of a day in the life of Jaroslav K. (43) depicts a conniving and violent tormentor, sexual and domestic abuse with an unexpected end. \u201eThis film was inspired by almost two years of research in both male and female prisons. Using experience gained, I approached my third film in a more daring way, going deep into my soul using what I call the \u2019analogue method\u2019 a language of metaphors and my imagination based on solid research in the real world. I have rewritten my research into the language of an imaginary parallel world, thus creating a tiny layer on top of reality that helps the audience see through unconscious connections, instead of through the logic of social norms.”

\n“Although many are reluctant to accept that such abuse exists on their home ground, certainly in Central Europe, it is sadly a phenomenon without borders. I believe that my absurdist drama rendered in non-traditional form of game will present a novel perspective on intimacy, sexuality, and violence, and in particular on domestic violence in modern society,\u201c <\/em>said director and screenwriter of the film.
\n<\/em>
\nThe Current Waves section, that includes films already premiered at other renowned festivals, will feature The Painted Bird<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>by V\u00e1clav Marhoul.<\/p>\n

The sub-festival Just Film, dedicated mainly to younger audience, will introduce two Slovak features: The Scent of Oranges<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ivan Pokorn\u00fd) about Derek growing up in the isolated yet beautiful Lusatian Mountains and sci-fi adventure My Grandpa Is an Alien<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Dra\u017een \u017darkovi\u0107, Marina Andree \u0160kop).<\/p>\n

Two animated shortswill be screened within P\u00d6FF Shorts<\/a> sub-festival: The Kite<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Martin Smatana) that deals with the issue of death and Sh_t Happens<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. David \u0160tumpf, Michael Mih\u00e1lyi) about the caretaker, his wife and her lover.<\/p>\n

Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, the event organized for film professionals in the framework of the festival, will host Juraj Bohu\u0161\u2018 upcoming feature debut Stand Up<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>within the section Works in Progress and The File<\/em> by Jon\u00e1\u0161 Kar\u00e1sek in Co-production Market.<\/p>\n
