{"id":38244,"date":"2020-08-30T14:28:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-30T12:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=38244"},"modified":"2025-09-08T16:49:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T14:49:53","slug":"slovak-animated-film-in-vienna","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/slovak-animated-film-in-vienna\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovak Animated Film in Vienna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Austrian Film Museum in Vienna presents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.filmmuseum.at\/jart\/prj3\/filmmuseum\/main.jart?rel=en&amp;content-id=1219068743272&amp;schienen_id=1595209827023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Animace\/Anim\u00e1cia \u2013 100 Years of Czechoslovak, Czech and Slovak Film Animation<\/a> organized in cooperation with the National Film Archive of the Slovak Film Institute (NFA SFI) and the Czech National Film Archive (NFA). The restrospective takes place\u00a0from\u00a03 September\u00a0until 19 October 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a tool for the audience to navigate the program, five thematic sections have been set up. Section Folklore &amp; Sci-fi &amp; Legends explores\u00a0national mythology and collective dreams,\u00a0Puppets focuses on animation techniques and the special place puppetry holds among them,\u00a0Politics groups films &#8211; commentaries on the freedom of expression and related traumas. (Non)Reality looks at\u00a0the potential of allegory, and <em>Anima(Lab)<\/em>\u00a0investigates the medium itself and its surrealist aspirations. The retrospective includes 34 Slovak feature and short animated films, positioning side by side the classics like Viktor Kubal, Ji\u0159\u00ed Trnka, Herm\u00edna T\u00fdrlov\u00e1, Jan \u0160vankmajer or Rudolf Urc and the new film generation(s) that entered the Industry from 1993 on.<\/p>\n<p>The 50 program slots further split the\u00a0focus onto fairy tales, myth and urban legends, politics, love and cheesy romance, grieve, dreams, wilderness\u00a0or cities. The retrospective\u00a0attempts\u00a0to show\u00a0the\u00a0richies of various animation techniques and approaches, it\u00a0explores the new perspectives\u00a0on the classic animation screened from the 35mm films.<\/p>\n<p>The principal curators of the retrospective are expert on history and theory of animated film Eli\u0161ka D\u011bck\u00e1, PAF Olomouc program manager and curator Martin Mazanec, and Head of Curators of the\u00a0National Film Archive (CZ) Mat\u011bj Strnad; the curators-advisers are Eva \u0160o\u0161kov\u00e1, Lea Pag\u00e1\u010dov\u00e1, Sa\u0161a Gabri\u017eov\u00e1, Michaela Mertov\u00e1 a Pavel Hor\u00e1\u010dek.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"avtext\">The retrospective is organized with the support of theSlovak Institute in\u00a0Vienna, the Slovak Embassy in Vienna, the Czech Center in Vienna, and the\u00a0Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vienna.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Slovak films line-up:<\/p>\n<p><em>Folklore &amp; Sci-fi &amp; Legends<\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>\u010cmuchal &amp; Svi\u0148a Strike Again<\/strong><\/em>, dir.
