The long-awaited new releases, short films by emerging and experienced directors or upcoming feature-length debuts. The 47th edition of the Summer Film School\u00a0Uhersk\u00e9 Hradi\u0161t\u011b<\/a>, which will take place from 6 to 12 August 2021, will present a wide range of Slovak cinema.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The opening ceremony will be followed by a screening of highly anticipated film Man with Hare Ears<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>by Martin \u0160ul\u00edk, which won the Best Director award at last year’s Film Festival Warsaw. The New Czech and Slovak Film section will also present the feature films Servants<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd) and Charlatan<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Agnieszka Holland), both with the world premier at last year’s Berlinale. The documentary Alchemical Furnace<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Adam O\u013eha, Jan Da\u0148hel) will please the fans of Jan \u0160vankmajer and Video Kings<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Luk\u00e1\u0161 Bulava) will lure into cinemas those who like to recall the era of amateur dubbing, pirate copying and the distribution of VHS tapes. The freshest of new releases include the romantic film Emma in Love<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jan Pru\u0161inovsk\u00fd) and the feature-length animated film Even Mice Belong in Heaven<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jan Buben\u00ed\u010dek, Denisa Grimmov\u00e1). The closing ceremony will feature The Auschwitz Report<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Bebjak), Slovak candidate for the 2020 Oscar competition.<\/p>\n

The FAMU History section, also hosting a lecture by film historian V\u00e1clav Macek, will commemorate the student beginnings of prominent Slovak directors Juraj Jakubisko, Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k and Elo Havetta.<\/p>\n

Actor Martin Huba will be a guest of this year’s edition and at the masterclass will talk about the craft and film career. On this occasion, the Slovak (co-) produced films Talks with TGM<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Jakub \u010cervenka) and I<\/em> Served the King of England<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ji\u0159\u00ed Menzel) will be screened.<\/p>\n

Directors Michal Bla\u0161ko (Victim<\/a><\/em><\/strong>), Zuzana Kirchnerov\u00e1 (Caravan<\/em><\/a><\/strong>) and Jakub Machala (Avalanche of Love<\/a><\/em><\/strong>) will present their upcoming feature debuts.<\/p>\n

The selection of student films includes four short films from the production of the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, two of which are fiction films: Boredom<\/strong> <\/em>(dir. Alica Bedn\u00e1rikov\u00e1), Greetings from Nigeria<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Hoferica) and two documentaries: Princess Diary<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Barbara Vojta\u0161\u00e1kov\u00e1), Attention All Passengers<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Marek Mou\u010dka).<\/p>\n

The documentary film Excursion or History of the Present<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jan Gogola Jr.) will be screened in the P.S.<\/em> section.<\/p>\n
