The 16th edition of the Cinematik International Film Festival<\/a> (14 \u2013 19 September 2021) will focus on Hungarian cinema, and offer a\u00a0a rich Slovak line-up. The Cinematik.doc competition section will feature the latest Slovak documentaries, the In the House section will present a selection of features and shorts, and classic films will commemorate an important anniversary of Slovak cinema.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The festival will open with the Slovak premiere of 107 Mothers<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Kerekes), which was world premiered just a few days ago at the prestigious Venice Film Festival. The In the House section will bring more fresh films. The documentaries Reconstruction of the Occupation<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jan \u0160ikl), Every Single Minute<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Erika Hn\u00edkov\u00e1) and the feature debut Wild Roots<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Hajni Kis) have had their world premiere at Karlovy Vary. The feature films The Auschwitz Report<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Peter Bebjak) and Emma in Love<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jan Pru\u0161inovsk\u00fd) will be presented in distribution pre-premieres. Among animated films, My Sunny Maad<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (d. Michaela Pavl\u00e1tov\u00e1) and the short Love, Dad<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Diana Cam Van Nguyen) will be presented. The section will be also presenting films with earlier years of production, like The Impossible Voyage<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Noro Dr\u017eiak) and Forebodings<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Vja\u010deslav Kry\u0161tofovy\u010d). The selection of short films Unguided Tour<\/a> will include Greetings from Nigeria<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Hoferica), About Freedom [not]<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Paula Reiselov\u00e1), Journey<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Marek Jasa\u0148), Yours<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Pavol \u010ci\u017em\u00e1r), Rheum<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Kate\u0159ina Hron\u00edkov\u00e1) and Fragment 0<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Michal \u017dilinsk\u00fd). The short film Remedy<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Jakub \u0160ipo\u0161) is also awaiting release.<\/p>\n

Eight Slovak documentary films will compete for the Cinematik.doc Literary Fund Award: White on White<\/strong><\/a><\/em> (dir. Viera \u010c\u00e1kanyov\u00e1), Unseen<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Maia Martiniak), At Full Throttle<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Miro Remo), Architect of Brutal Poetry<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ladislav Kabo\u0161), Flying Dutchman Lubomir Feldek<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Marek Jani\u010d\u00edk), The Sailor<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Lucia Ka\u0161ov\u00e1), On Your Marks!<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. M\u00e1ria Pin\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1) and The Commune<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Jakub Jul\u00e9ny).<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the centenary of Slovak cinema, the festival will also screen two Slovak classic films directed by Martin Holl\u00fd: Signum Laudis<\/a><\/strong><\/em> in a double bill with Paths of Glory<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Stanley Kubrick) and Night Riders<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in a double bill with The Wild Bunch<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>(dir. Sam Peckinpah).<\/p>\n
