\"\"More than 20 Slovak animated films are heading to the Romanian capital. The 16th edition of the Animest International Animation Festival<\/a> (October 8 \u2013 17, 2021) will focuse on Slovak cinema and present contemporary animation as well as feature-length classic film Brigand Jurko<\/em> (1976) by Viktor Kubal from the collections of the National Film Archive of the Slovak Film Institute (SFI).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Animest International Animation\u00a0Festival<\/a> is the only Romanian festival focused on animation. It showcases works from all over the world that compete for prizes in several competition categories, while other films are included in thematic sections and various retrospectives. In the Feature Film Competition, Michaela Pavl\u00e1tov\u00e1’s My Sunny Maad<\/a><\/em><\/strong> will vie for the Best Feature Film Award and in the Student Film Competition, Slovakia will be represented by Kl\u00e1ra Fedora Homzov\u00e1’s short animated film Lunate<\/em><\/strong>. The festival programme will also include the films Even Mice Belong in Heaven<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Denisa Grimmov\u00e1 and Jan Buben\u00ed\u010dek, Blue Red<\/em> by Daniela Kraj\u010dov\u00e1 and a series of episodes from the animated series The Websters<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Among national cinemas, Animest will focus on Slovakia this year. Romanian viewers will have the opportunity to get to know the legendary Slovak animation filmmaker Viktor Kubal in addition to the films in the competition and non-competition sections. The organisers have included the first Slovak animated feature film, Brigand Jurko<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Focus on Slovak Film will also offer two selection of animated films from the last five years. The collection of contemporary Slovak animation will present seven films, including 39 Weeks, 6 Days<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Joanna Kozuch and Boris \u0160ima,\u00a0Music Box<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Joanna Kozuch, Solar Box<\/em><\/strong> by Luk\u00e1\u0161 Sigmund, Fifi Fatale<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by M\u00e1ria Kralovi\u010d, Monster<\/strong> <\/em>by Martin Snopek, Persona grata<\/em><\/strong> by Daniela Kraj\u010dov\u00e1 and Pantopos<\/strong> <\/em>by Eni Brandner. The selection of student films from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava<\/a> consists of ten films, namely In Line<\/em><\/strong> by Kamila Ku\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1, White Forest<\/strong><\/em> by Marta Prokopov\u00e1, Brother Deer<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Zuzana \u017diakov\u00e1, Chilli<\/strong> <\/em>by Martina Miku\u0161ov\u00e1, Strawberry Days<\/em><\/strong> by Eva Sekere\u0161ov\u00e1, Contrast<\/strong> <\/em>by Barbara B\u00e1rkov\u00e1, Donna Bella<\/em><\/strong> by Emma Vir\u00e1g Csuport, Half b\u00e1bka<\/em><\/strong> by Jasmina Elsen, Aion<\/strong> <\/em>by Petra Heleninov\u00e1 and Poetika Anima<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Kriss Sagan.<\/p>\n
