The 62nd edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth Zl\u00edn Film Festival<\/a> (<\/strong>May 26 \u2013 June 1, 2022) will present a total of 276 films from 49 countries. A strong Slovak representation includes two animated feature films.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the International Competition of Feature Films in the Children\u2019s Category, the long-awaited 3D animated film Journey to Yourland<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Peter Budinsk\u00fd will have its world premiere. \u201dOur film tells the story of Riki, a boy who moves with his mother to a new neighbourhood. There he stumbles upon a mysterious glowing stone, which leads him to an unknown world called Yourland. It’s a world full of the most amazing things a child can imagine, but there are also various pitfalls lurking there that Riki has to deal with,<\/em>\u201d said producer Barbora Budinsk\u00e1. How I Learned to Fly<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Radivoje Anri\u0107), a minority Slovak co-production and winner of the ECFA Award for Best European Film at BUFF Malm\u00f6, will also be in competition.<\/p>\n

The non-competitive New Czech Film and TV Programmes will present the fiction feature film Kry\u0161tof<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Zden\u011bk Jir\u00e1sk\u00fd) and two animated films produced by the Slovak company Fool Moon. The TV special of the popular series Mimi and Lisa: The Garden<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1, Ivana \u0160ebestov\u00e1) deals with an important environmental topic and encourage children to take care of the world around them. Another TV project is the basis for Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1\u2019s feature-length film The Websters Movie<\/a><\/strong>,<\/em> which was created by combining six separate episodes of the last The Websters<\/strong><\/em> series with live-action parts. The main character Lili has already been through various adventures, but now she is in for the biggest and most dangerous one: meeting a human being. The programme section will also present the narrative fairy tale The Enchanted Cave<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Mariana \u010cengel Sol\u010dansk\u00e1), which tells a story of hope and human greed.<\/p>\n

The festival will screen two Slovak minority co-productions \u2013 Slobodan Maksimovi\u0107\u2019s Beanie<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>within the World Children\u2019s Film Panorama section and Tom\u00e1\u0161 Polensk\u00fd\u2019s The Pack<\/strong><\/a><\/em> will be part of the special Top Teen Ten selection, which brings together the 10 best films for teenagers.<\/p>\n

Two Slovak shorts will compete in the International Competition of Student Films Zl\u00edn Dog \u2013 the fiction Maverick (Of Hen and Men)<\/em><\/strong> directed by Peter Hoferica and the animated Love, Dad<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (dir. Diana Cam Van Nguyen). Slovak director and animator Martin Smatana is a member of the jury that will choose the winner of the category.<\/p>\n

In addition to the completed films, upcoming projects will also be presented. Central European Children\u2019s Film CoProduction Forum will showcase the animated feature debut of Slovak director Filip Diviak, OT15<\/em><\/strong>. The goal of the platform is to connect producers from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and Poland who are dedicated to making films for children and young audience.<\/p>\n
