\"\"26th edition of Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival<\/a> (October 25 \u2013 30, 2022) will honour Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k with Contribution to World Cinema Award. Festival will also present 19 Slovak films, multiple of them in world premiere.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHis film work is very inspiring for its distinctive handwriting, courage and ability to capture the essential themes of his time, even at the cost of the prohibitions and restrictions imposed by the totalitarian regime. The critical nature of Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k\u2019s films stemmed primarily from their consistent authenticity, combining experimentation with civility. Since 1992, he worked as a teacher at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he significantly influenced the next generation of directors,<\/i>\u201d said<\/a> Ji.hlava IDFF\u2019s director Marek Hovorka about Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k. On the occasion, the festival will screen Pictures of the Old World<\/em><\/strong> and Old Shatterhand Came To See Us<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Opus Bonum, the main festival competition, will see the world premiere of new film by Jaro Vojtek The Shift<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, while Good Old Czechs<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, the latest film by Tom\u00e1\u0161 Bojar, was selected for Testimonies competition.<\/p>\n

Five Slovak films are up for the best Czech documentary film award, including two that are presented in world premieres: Leaving to Remain<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Mira Erdevicki) and Bandits for a Ballad<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Vladim\u00edr Mor\u00e1vek). Another three Slovak films in the Czech Joy competition are: Pongo Calling<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Kratochv\u00edl), Kapr Code<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Lucie Kr\u00e1lov\u00e1), and The Visitors<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Veronika Li\u0161kov\u00e1).<\/p>\n

Short films competitions include five Slovak films. We Have to Survive: Fukushima!<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>by Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krupa and Building Slovakia \u2013 Decorations<\/em><\/strong> by M\u00e1ria Pin\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1, both in the international premiere, were selected for Short Joy, while forests and coasts near zingst<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Peter Podolsk\u00fd; world premiere), Kambium 1492<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Peter Ka\u0161par, Denis Kozerawski; festival premiere), and Asteri\u00f3n<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir. Francesco Montagner) were selected for Exprmntl.cz competition.<\/p>\n

Apart from the two aforementioned films by Du\u0161an Han\u00e1k, Special Event section will see world premiere of the new film by Marek Kubo\u0161 \u00b1 90<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In non-competitive Czech Television Documentaries section, audiences in Jihlava will have a chance to see four Slovak films that premiered in last 12 months: De\u017eo Hoffmann \u2013 Photographer of The Beatles<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Patrik Lan\u010dari\u010d), Identity ES<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Alena \u010cin\u010derov\u00e1), Michael Koc\u00e1b<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Olga Sommerov\u00e1), and Wild Prague<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Jan Ho\u0161ek).<\/p>\n

Slovak film professionals will also take part in the industry programme. Tereza Tok\u00e1rov\u00e1 was selected for Emerging Producers training programme. Three projects in development will be looking for international partners at New Visions Market: Becoming Ema<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Patricia Drati), Maybe, It’s Not Real<\/em><\/strong> (dir. \u0160tef\u00e1nia Lovasov\u00e1), and The Four of Us<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Josefina Lubojacki). Feature-length The Cathedral<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Denis Dobrovoda) and a short Strigov<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir.
