Cottbus Film Festival<\/a> (November 8 \u2013 13, 2022), which is one of the most important events focusing on Eastern European cinema, starts today. It will bring 12 Slovak films.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Feature Film Competition section Slovakian minority The Word<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Beata Parkanov\u00e1, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary IFF 2022 and won the awards for best director and best male actor, will compete for the main prize.<\/p>\n

The Spectrum section will present the latest Slovak films The Ballad of Piargy<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Ivo Trajkov), Nightsiren<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Tereza Nvotov\u00e1), Kry\u0161tof<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(d. Zden\u011bk Jir\u00e1sk\u00fd) and\u00a0Victim<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>(dir. Michal Bla\u0161ko), all of which recently premiered at international festivals.<\/p>\n

In the Hits section, successful among viewers, we can find the romantic gangster film Goldilocks and the Glorious Losers<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Rastislav Boro\u0161) and the TV series Ultimatum<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Michal Koll\u00e1r).<\/p>\n

The children’s program will include an animated feature The Websters Movie<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1), a short Mimi and Lisa<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(dir. Ivana \u0160ebestov\u00e1, Katar\u00edna Kerekesov\u00e1) and a minority co-production How I Learned to Fly<\/em><\/a><\/strong> (dir. Andri\u0107 Radivoje).<\/p>\n

The Women’s Roles in Socialism and Beyond section will screen a successful award-winning short film Love, Dad<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/a>by director Diana Cam Van Nguyen.<\/p>\n

Last year the Spotlight was on Slovakia, this year it is Romania’s turn. On this occasion, the film The Eagles from Taga<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>(dir. Adina Popescu, Iulian Manuel Gharvas), which is this year’s Slovak co-production, will also be screened.<\/p>\n
