{"id":38354,"date":"2023-01-18T15:31:00","date_gmt":"2023-01-18T14:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=38354"},"modified":"2025-09-10T16:13:00","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T14:13:00","slug":"international-film-festival-rotterdam-2023","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/international-film-festival-rotterdam-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"New and classic Slovak cinema at the International Film Festival Rotterdam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/2015-nkc\/IFFR-2023_mini.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" class=\"table\" \/>The 52nd edition (January 25 \u2013 February 5, 2023) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Film Festival Rotterdam<\/a>, one of the world&#8217;s renowned festivals, will feature a world premiere of new Slovak drama <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Power<\/a> <\/strong><\/em>and three digitally restored films from the collections of the National Film Archive of the Slovak Film Institute.<\/p>\n<p>Director M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Prikler premiered his feature debut <a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/eshop\/uncategorized\/fine-thanks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Fine, Thanks<\/em><\/strong><\/a> in Rotterdam 10 years ago, now he is back with his second feature film, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Power<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>in Rotterdam\u2019s Harbour section. At an informal hunt, somewhere on the border of two Central European countries, a boy is accidentally killed. One of the politicians involved is the hot candidate for the important international post of Water Commissioner, who is expected to find a solution to the increasing water shortage across Europe and elsewhere in the world.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s programme also include three short animated classics by <a href=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/persons\/jaroslava-havettov%C3%A1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaroslava Havettov\u00e1<\/a>, one of the pioneers of Slovak animation. Her films, known for a unique poetic style, deal with topics of destiny, sacrifice and the role of individuals in society.
