\"\"The 29th edition of International Film Festival Art Film Fest Ko\u0161ice<\/a> (June 16 \u2013 23, 2023) will present a lot of new Slovak films, will celebrate 60th anniversary of the Slovak Film Institute, and will commemorate life and work of two Slovak legends \u2013 Juraj Jakubisko and Milan Lasica.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three Slovak films are up for festival awards: White Plastic Sky<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Tibor B\u00e1n\u00f3czki, Sarolta Szab\u00f3) was selected for International Competition of Feature Films, while Liquid Bread<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Alica Bedn\u00e1rikov\u00e1) and Strigov<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Barbora Berez\u0148\u00e1kov\u00e1) were selected for the International Competition of Short Films.<\/p>\n

Non-competitite Panorama section will premiere a new doc on Czechoslovak New Wave A Czechoslovak Fairy Tale<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Christian Paigneau), and Love & Anarchy includes latest film by Viera \u010c\u00e1kanyov\u00e1 Notes from Eremocene<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. 14 films will be presented within Slovak Season: \u00b1 90<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Marek Kubo\u0161), Andy Warhol \u2013 The American Dream<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. \u013dubom\u00edr J\u00e1n Slivka, Work in Progress), Goldilocks and the Glorious Losers<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Ras\u0165o Boro\u0161), Invalid<\/a><\/strong> <\/em>(dir. Jon\u00e1\u0161 Kar\u00e1sek), Power<\/a><\/strong> <\/em>(dir. M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Prikler), We Have to Survive: Fukushima!<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (dir. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krupa), Victim<\/a><\/strong> (dir. Michal Bla\u0161ko), The Countdown – The Last Film of Ivan Pal\u00fach<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Martin Pal\u00fach), The Ballad of Piargy<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Ivo Trajkov), The Word<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Beata Parkanov\u00e1), The Chambermaid<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Mariana \u010cengel Sol\u010dansk\u00e1), Shadowplay<\/a><\/strong> (dir. Peter Bebjak), The Shift<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Jaro Vojtek), and Territory of Imagination<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (d. Paula Ma\u013e\u00e1rov\u00e1). The film She \u2013 Hero<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Mira Fornay) was selected for Movies for Kids.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Slovak Film Institute, festival will present six Slovak classics: Seven Days Every Week<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Eduard Gre\u010dner), Wild Lilies<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Elo Havetta), The Barnab\u00e1\u0161 Kos Case<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Peter Solan), A Case for the Defence Attorney<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Martin Holl\u00fd), Brigand Jurko<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Viktor Kubal) as well as Over Mountains, Over Valleys<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Karel Plicka) accompanied by David Kollar and Tom\u00e1\u0161 Mutina.<\/p>\n

The festival will pay tribute to Juraj Jakubisko with three of his films: The Prime of Life<\/strong>, Deserters and Pilgrims<\/strong><\/em>, and Freckled Max and the Ghosts<\/strong><\/em>. It will also remember it\u2019s former President Milan Lasica with his film Sweet Games of the Last Summer<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Juraj Herz).<\/p>\n

Industry Programme will tackle topics such as filming in the East of Slovakia, expanding the audiovisual workforce, or special and visual effects. Peter Bebjak, Peter Neve\u010fal, Martin Pal\u00fach, Radka \u0160i\u0161ul\u00e1kov\u00e1, and B\u00e9la Tarr will give master classes.<\/p>\n

Rodinn\u00e9 filmov\u00e9 striebro<\/em>, a new book published by the Slovak Film Institute, will be presented during the festival. It consists of 60 essays on 60 classic and contemporary Slovak films written by 60 authors from Slovakia, Czech Republic, and other European countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
