Multiple Slovak films and talents are heading to the 74th Berlin International Film Festival<\/a> (February 15 \u2013 25, 2024).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A detective drama The Editorial Office<\/a><\/em> (dir. Roman Bondarchuk), co-produced by Katar\u00edna Krn\u00e1\u010dov\u00e1 of Silverart, will premiere in Forum<\/em>, while a creative documentary film I’m Not Everything I Want To Be<\/a><\/em>, co-produced by Jakub Viktor\u00edn of nutprodukcia, was selected for Panorama<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new project by director-producer Mira Fornay (winner of the last year\u2019s Grand Prix of the Generation Kplus International Jury for She \u2013 Hero<\/em>), Twist the Rabbit<\/em>, will be presented at the EFM Co-Production Market<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matej Sotn\u00edk (gu\u010da films) will represent Slovakia in the Emerging Producers 2024 program. Two Slovak films are up for the ECFA Awards which are announced at Berlinale: Even Mice Belong in Heaven<\/a><\/em> (dir. Denisa Grimmov\u00e1, Jan Buben\u00ed\u010dek) and Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light<\/a><\/em> (dir. Filip Po\u0161iva\u010d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the wild steppes of southern Ukraine, a young nature researcher named Yura is looking for an endangered species of groundhog but instead witnesses a crime. Eager to expose the truth, Yura takes his photo evidence to the local newspaper\u2019s editorial office. However, he quickly realizes that nobody there cares about pursuing justice. While a big war is looming over the horizon, Yura\u2019s naive worldview is splintering in a storm of fake news, rigged political elections, and mysterious cult rituals. On his quest, the hero is about to find out who he really is \u2013 an endangered species of a good man or just a loser?<\/p>\n\n\n

After the Soviet invasion of Prague, a young female photographer strives to break free from the constraints of Czechoslovak normalization and embarks on a wild journey towards freedom, capturing her experiences on thousands of subjective photographs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Slovakia will be present at the European Film Market in Berlin for the 19th time. Together with friends and colleagues from the Czech Republic and Slovenia, under the umbrella of the Central European Cinema, The Slovak Film Institute offers an informational and promotional point for Slovak cinema, and a networking place for Slovak film professionals and their international counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentation of Slovak cinema and audiovisual industry at the European Film Market is organized by: Slovak Film Institute, with financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, and Slovak Film Commission, organizational unit of Slovak Audiovisual Fund and in partnership with Slovak Institute in Berlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
