{"id":38636,"date":"2023-11-07T07:23:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T06:23:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=38636"},"modified":"2025-09-24T16:05:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T14:05:48","slug":"idfa-2023","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/idfa-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Strong Slovak presence at IDFA Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>It is a strong year for Slovak cinema at Industry part of one of the most prestigious documentary film festivals in the world \u2013 Amsterdam\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idfa.nl\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IDFA<\/a>\u00a0(November 8 \u2013 19, 2023).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two film projects will be presented to the professional audience at\u00a0IDFA Forum.<em>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/velvet-generation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Velvet Generation<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, directed by Ivana Huc\u00edkov\u00e1, a portrait of contemporary youth on the search for identity, values, and a place in modern society, against the backdrop of an emerging Czech and Slovak ballroom scene, was selected for\u00a0Producers Connection. One of the\u00a0Rough Cut\u00a0projects is\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/company-of-steel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Company of Steel<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, directed by Yuliia Hontaruk, about three young veterans of the 2014 war in Eastern Ukraine struggling to find their place in daily life as civilians \u2013 until the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 throws them right back into the trauma they have tried so hard to escape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another three Slovak projects will try to find new partners at\u00a0Docs for Sale\u00a0programme: documentary series\u00a0<strong><em>Investigators<\/em><\/strong>, directed by Peter Pokorn\u00fd, which explores various esoteric phenomena and controversial topics such as bioresonance, astrology, or clairvoyance; a documentary essay on Olympic urbanism and its impact on the cities\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/olympic-halftime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Olympic Halftime<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, directed by Haruna Honcoop; and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/the-limits-of-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>Limits of Europe<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, directed by Apolena Rychl\u00edkov\u00e1 about labour exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects that were part of this year\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dokincubator.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dok.incubator<\/a>\u00a0international workshop will be presented during IDFA as well. Professional audience in Amsterdam can get to know Slovak film\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/fakir\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Fakir<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, directed by Roman \u010euri\u0161, which follows efforts of 22-year-old Roma Dalibor to find his own place in society despite systemic racism and his past mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u010euri\u0161 was also selected for educational programme\u00a0IDFAcademy, which will be attended by producers Matej Sotn\u00edk and Nat\u00e1lia Pavlove as well.
