{"id":54545,"date":"2025-09-18T16:27:31","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T14:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=54545"},"modified":"2025-09-18T16:56:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T14:56:35","slug":"two-slovak-films-san-sebastian-iff","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/two-slovak-films-san-sebastian-iff\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Slovak films will compete at the San Sebasti\u00e1n IFF 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>This year, two Slovak films have been selected for the program of the 73rd edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sansebastianfestival.com\/in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">San Sebasti\u00e1n International Film Festival<\/a> (September 19 \u2013 27, 2025), which places a strong emphasis on connecting European and Ibero-American cinema while also focusing on discovering new talent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drama&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/ungrateful-beings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>Ungrateful Beings<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, a six-country co-production between the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia and France, will celebrate its world premiere in the main competition.&nbsp;The fifth feature film by Olmo Omerzu, a Slovenian-born director based in Prague, will compete for the festival\u2019s top award \u2013 the Golden Shell. The film tells the story of father David, who takes his two children on a seaside holiday in an attempt to prevent the family from falling apart. His daughter Kl\u00e1ra, who suffers from an eating disorder, falls in love with a local boy who is accused of murder. After their return home, a chain of events unfolds that will test the cohesion of the family\u2019s already fragile bonds. The Slovak co-producer of the film is Ivan Ostrochovsk\u00fd (Punkchart films), marking his fourth collaboration with Omerzu after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/family-film\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>Family Film<\/strong><\/em><\/a>&nbsp;(world premiere at the 63rd San Sebasti\u00e1n IFF in the New Directors section in 2015),&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/winter-flies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Winter Flies<\/strong><\/a><\/em> (2018), and&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/bird-atlas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Bird Atlas<\/strong><\/a><\/em> (2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the competitive Nest section, dedicated to student films, the short documentary\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/how-to-listen-to-fountains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>How to Listen to Fountains<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>by Eva Sajanov\u00e1 will also have its world premiere.
