{"id":56912,"date":"2026-01-29T18:11:20","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T17:11:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=56912"},"modified":"2026-01-30T13:36:33","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T12:36:33","slug":"rotterdam-2026","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/rotterdam-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Slovak short films will be presented at the 55th edition of the IFF Rotterdam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the programme of the 55th edition of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/iffr.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Film Festival Rotterdam<\/a>&nbsp;(January 29 \u2013 February 8, 2026), two Slovak films will be presented in their world premieres.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Short &amp; Mid-length programme, the short satirical documentary&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/greetings-from-rhodes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Greetings from Rhodes<\/em><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;by Viera \u010c\u00e1kanyov\u00e1 will be screened. The film was produced by Matej Sotn\u00edk, representing both the Slovak company gu\u010da films and the Czech company Somatic Films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Slovak director has gained international recognition for her loose post-human trilogy:&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/frem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>FREM<\/em><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;(2019),&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/white-on-white\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>White on White<\/em><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;(2020) and&nbsp;<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/notes-from-eremocene\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Notes from Eremocene<\/a><\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;(2023), which, in addition to major festivals such as Berlinale, has also attracted the attention of film scholars. Slovak film theorist Jana Dudkov\u00e1 addressed \u010c\u00e1kanyov\u00e1\u2019s work in the monograph&nbsp;<em>\u010clovek na pokrAI&nbsp;<\/em>with the subtitle&nbsp;<em>Postantropoc\u00e9n Vierry \u010c\u00e1kanyovej<\/em>, published last year by the Slovak Film Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company gu\u010da films is also a co-producer of the second Slovak film in the programme \u2013 the short film&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/orla\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Orla<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, directed by Marie Luk\u00e1\u010dov\u00e1. This experimental fairy tale with elements of animation, created as a co-production between the Czech Republic (the company CLAW, represented by Wanda Kapr\u00e1lov\u00e1 and Kl\u00e1ra Mamojkov\u00e1) and Slovakia, will be screened in the Tiger Short Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work of multimedia artist Luk\u00e1\u010dov\u00e1 combines elements of mythology, science and politics.
