{"id":58224,"date":"2026-06-05T14:28:17","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T12:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/?post_type=novinka&#038;p=58224"},"modified":"2026-06-09T12:12:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T10:12:15","slug":"slovak-animation-shines-at-prestigious-festivals","status":"publish","type":"novinka","link":"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/news\/slovak-animation-shines-at-prestigious-festivals\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovak animation shines at prestigious festivals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Four Slovak animated films \u2014 the feature-length puppet film <em>Dukla<\/em> and the short films <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/eeny-meeny-miny-moe\/\" id=\"55626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe!<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/tourists\/\" id=\"38992\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tourists<\/a><\/em>, and <em>Stones<\/em> \u2014 will be presented in the programmes of prestigious film festivals.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the 25th edition of the&nbsp;Tribeca Festival<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>(June 3\u201314, 2026),&nbsp;the short animated film&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/eeny-meeny-miny-moe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em><strong>Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe!<\/strong><\/em><\/a>&nbsp;by Andrea Szelesov\u00e1 will be presented in the programme Shorts: Whoopi\u2019s Wonderful World of Animation, curated by EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg. It marks the first-ever Slovak (and Czech) short film included in the programme of this prestigious North American film festival.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film by the Slovak animator had its world premiere at this year\u2019s Berlinale. From New York, it will travel to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.annecyfestival.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Annecy International Animation Film Festival<\/a>&nbsp;in France (June 21-27, 2026), where it will compete in the Young Audiences section, dedicated to the youngest viewers (from toddlers to pre-teens), alongside nine other titles. The film is also screening these days at the Sydney Film Festival as part of the SFFTV programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The feature film <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/dukla\/\" id=\"55827\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dukla<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, directed by Gejza Dezorz, will be presented as one of eight titles in the Grand Competition \u2013 Feature Film section at the prestigious&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.animafest.hr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Animafest Zagreb<\/a>&nbsp;(June 8\u201313, 2026). Together with Annecy, it ranks among the most important festivals dedicated to animated film. It is the first Slovak feature-length puppet film and is also remarkable for having been produced entirely in Slovakia. The film was produced by Slovak Motion Picture in co-production with Dezorz\u2019s Puppet Theatre, Studio Dolina, and DPOH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short animated film\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sfu.sk\/en\/films\/tourists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>Tourists<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by director M\u00e1ria Kralovi\u010d, which had its world premiere at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, will be also presented in Zagreb. The relationship drama is included, alongside 36 other titles, in the Grand Competition \u2013 Short Film section, which received more than 1,000 submissions. The film is currently also being presented in Italy (Short Film Competition at the CinemAmbiente Environmental Film Festival) and will screen in August at the Odense IFF in Denmark.
