The programme of the 32nd edition of the International Film Festival Art Film (June 19\u201325, 2026) includes a number of Slovak classic and contemporary films and series. A dozen titles from the collections of the Slovak Film Institute (SFI) will be screened, while four films have been selected for the festival\u2019s competition sections and a further thirteen films and series will be presented in non-competitive programmes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traditional section SFI: Our Family Film Treasures will present twelve films. Exactly half of them are being screened in connection with the launch of the book Slovak Compilation Film<\/em> by film theorist Martin Pal\u00fach, co-published by the SFI. The remaining films include the feature-length titles F. T. on the Road<\/strong><\/em> and The Man Who Never Returned<\/strong><\/em> (whose digitally restored versions will be presented in renewed premieres), Kangchenjunga<\/strong><\/em> by J\u00e1n Piroh (preceded by the director\u2019s short film Air Temperature 50\u00b0C, Humidity 97%<\/strong><\/em>), and two films by Martin Holl\u00fd, Custom Tailored Death<\/strong><\/em> and Signum Laudis<\/strong><\/em>, screened on the occasion of actor Vlado M\u00fcller receiving the Milan Lasica Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the International Competition of Feature Films, the drama Wirbel<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by debut director Tom\u00e1\u0161 Hub\u00e1\u010dek (SK prod. sentimentalfilm, pictured here) will have its world premiere. The International Competition of Short Films will welcome This Room Is Impossible to Eat<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, a student film by V\u0160MU graduate Em\u00edlia Ondria\u0161ov\u00e1, which recently premiered at the Krakow Film Festival. Finally, the International Competition of Central and Eastern European Films will feature the Slovak premieres of two documentary films among a selection of eight titles: We Have to Survive<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by director and producer Tom\u00e1\u0161 Krupa (SK prod. HAILSTONE) and My Father\u2019s Daughter<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, directed and co-produced by Lea Podhradsk\u00e1 (SK co-prod. Story Lab).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The non-competitive Slovak Season section will showcase ten new Slovak audiovisual works, including six films and four series. The film selection includes the feature-length absurd comedy Still Standing, Still Stuffed<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by directors Andrej Kolen\u010d\u00edk and Juraj \u0160lauka (SK prod. Admiral Films, world premiere), the feature-length drama The Last Season<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (dir. Pavol Hirjak, SK prod. inframe pictures, world premiere) and five documentary films: The Centre of Peripheries<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Matej Ban\u00edk, SK prod. OZ Slam Poetry SK, world premiere), Everest: A Mother’s Peak<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Paul Diffley, world premiere), The Invisible Jan Gogola<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Marek Jani\u010d\u00edk, SK prod. Nov\u00fd film, Slovak premiere), and 1+1+1<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Ond\u0159ej Vavre\u010dka, SK prod. D1film, Slovak premiere). Festival audiences will also have the opportunity to watch the first episodes of four TV series produced by TV JOJ: Crime Unit Hawk<\/em><\/strong> (dir. Ji\u0159\u00ed Chlumsk\u00fd), The Chicks<\/em><\/strong> (dir. J\u00e1n Nov\u00e1k), About Time<\/strong><\/em> (dir. Luk\u00e1\u0161 Zednikovi\u010d), and Sexta<\/strong><\/em> (dirs. Adam Sedl\u00e1k and Jan H\u0159ebejk).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Movies for Kids section will present Miloslav \u0160m\u00eddmajer\u2019s fairy-tale film Princess Stella<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (SK co-prod. FilmWorx), which has already been released in domestic cinemas. In honour of actress Anna \u0160i\u0161kov\u00e1, who will receive the festival\u2019s Actor\u2019s Mission Award, the film Filthy<\/a><\/strong><\/em> by her daughter Tereza Nvotov\u00e1 (SK prod. BFILM) will be screened. The documentary Via Slovakia<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (dir. Vi\u0165azoslav Chrappa, SK prod. FilmWorx) will be shown in the AF Industry section Finally, SFI Director General Peter Dubeck\u00fd will receive the festival\u2019s Golden Camera Award in recognition of his significant contribution to filmmaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
